A little farther along, Susan let out a sigh.
"Damn it. Why weren't there men like that where I was summoned?"
Keith heard her and smiled.
"I'm standing right here."
Susan glanced at him.
"If you need someone handsome, you only have to ask," he added.
"I'd rather have someone from the fantasy world."
Sean chuckled besides.
"So coming from Earth disqualifies us?"
"Pretty much."
He laughed under his breath, accepting the rejection more gracefully than she seemed to have expected.
Their conversation ended when Aslan spoke again.
"And now, the two greatest figures of our era."
The change in his tone drew everyone's attention.
The cheering subsided. Even guests who had continued talking through parts of the Apostles' entrance turned toward the stage.
Aslan stood with his hands lowered, allowing the room to quiet before proceeding.
