I groaned as consciousness slowly returned.
My head felt as though someone had smashed it into a thousand pieces, mixed those pieces together for fun, and shoved them back into my skull in the wrong order.

Cleenah's voice echoed in my mind.
Strangely enough, hearing her made me feel a little better.
Not that I was going to tell her that.
"What happened?" I asked weakly.
I slowly opened my eyes and looked around.
I was lying on a white bed in what appeared to be the academy infirmary. Identical beds stood in orderly rows around the room, separated by thin curtains. The walls were white, the ceiling was white, and the sharp scent of medicine hung faintly in the air.
Fortunately, I seemed to be alone.
That was a relief.
The last thing I needed was for someone to walk in and find me arguing with voices inside my own head. I already had enough reasons for people to think I was insane.
