Chapter 6 - Sisters

Sisters

The next day mother took us to the Coldfire castle. Don't mistake Coldfire castle with Fen castle. Fen castle is the name of the fort citynwhile Coldfire castle was the castle the Coldfires, rulers of the city, live. The castle was a cold white place; even though it was summer it seemed to be winter here. The winter eye was here after all. We rode through towering ice metal gates manned by female warriors wearing blue armors and silver winged helms.

We went past few courtyards before arriving at the throne room. The male guards outside let us in as if expecting us. That's how I came face to face with a queen and one of the most powerful person in this world. The throne room was marble floored with a gigantic throne cast atop a dais. The throne was the shape of an open hand with finger tips above the head of the sitter. The sitter was a blond woman in her early thirties, I wasn't sure who was older between she and mother, in a black dress and silver tiara. She gazed down on us with cold aloofness. "It's really you sister," she said. "I heard what happened in Chyralis but I never imagined you'll come to me instead of father."

"You were closer dear sister," mother answered. "I feared the Highvoids will catch us if I had been more predictable."

"That as it may Resfiya, I survive with the blessing that no one knows we are sisters. Father survives on that; some will see it a treacherous thing to marry two daughters to two of the most powerful men in a region."

"I heard it's the season of the hunt Viktora," mother continued as if she hadn't heard the woman's words. "You have been hunting for the eye and failed each time. I'll lend you my power this time."

"And what do you want in exchange Resfiya?"

"I want protection for me and my family,"

"You are rather straight forward," Viktora Coldfire rose from her throne and walked down the dais then offered her hand to Resfiya. "Hold my hand dear sister. Let's talk this through. Your child can rest in the antechamber, they are maids that will provide his every need."

Mother kissed me on the cheek then walked over and took her sisters hand, they walked into a back door together and I just watched. Well I am six years old after all; I am a decade too young to be considered in such a discussion. Still I saw Viktora Coldfire! I repeated that in my mind in a daze. She's one of the three most powerful characters in this world.

Yes she was killed by Jack Highvoid in the first fall of Fen but she came back to life years later cause her powers was just too op that she couldn't die permanently. She returned in the first winter wars then in the second section of the novel too when her daughter Celestine Coldfire started a bitter war to end the tyranny of Crystalis kingdom, and Viktora went head to head with Rea and the heroes. Rea being the op bitch she is managed to kill her. But she returned again and again all over the novel like a persistent leech causing Jack Highvoid to say she's the only person he ever regretted crossing even though the sly bastard always got the upper hand in those exchanges.

By the way Jack and Rea are the other two among the three most op people in the novel. Imagine that, Viktora is up there with the MC and villain!

"Come on young master," Kina said taking my hand as she walked towards a door to the side. I looked back at the throne, as we went, in thought. Hadn't mother said her sister was married to a lord? Then why did Viktora sit on the throne alone with no sign of the sit of a king. In the story Viktora had died early and it was said that her husband does whatever she says before that. Yet I doubt she sat the Winter throne. Did she living long changed that? Something told me whatever is at play is dark and sinister fitting the setting of the novel I was reborn to.

Interesting years are ahead I believe.

Kina led me and Cvela to the antechamber. Really everything that happened took out the glamour of owning a slave. Ah, I know you might call me a scum or trash for being happy about owning someone, but that's because you don't know this world. When shit starts to fall you'll wish you had someone you can absolutely trust, even yourself. King Alford had said that and he was one of the best in the game of nobles.

By the way this antechamber was grand. Its vaulted ceiling was as high as the throne room's but unlike the later that was almost empty, it was filled with furniture. Couches and tables were placed about the room like an extravagant cafeteria. Three maids in black and white uniforms were there when we came in. One of them, a girl in her early twenties hurried over as she noticed us. She crisply bowed to me. "Welcome lord Highvoid, please sit, is they anything I could get you?"

"Sweet," I said. Pun intended. I also meant she was sweet. But she didn't realize that did she? It wasn't her fault. No one would think a six year old could mean that.

The maid smiled in that irritating fake way you smile to children. "Sure lord Highvoid."

"Don't give him any of that," Kina cut in. "He has a bit of a sweet tooth. The lady wants to regulate it." I glared up at Kina angrily but she just nudged me in the back and said. "Let's sit young master. And you you can bring us fruit juice."

Damn! I hate being a child.

And so we sat in the antechamber to wait for the two witch sisters to finish their discussion. I hope it goes well.
