Grey was running at high speeds while the fox chased him in between the ruined buildings hit by stray attacks.
Unfortunately every few seconds the fox was gaining momentum slowly catching up to grey and grey could feel his energy draining fast.
Grey used the environment to his advantage by hopping along the walls to quickly change directions and dodge in coming attack by concertrating on his ear while running with his eyes closed.
The fox stopped making illusions after noticing grey didn't react to any of them. He tried making jumpscares and clone illusions but this rabbit that seemed to match his speed and see past his illusions was obviously running on fumes.
Every now and then greys body would greatly slow only to speed up when the fox came closer.
Because of this grey was caught a few times being sent flying into buildings.
Greys only thoughts running through his head was not even on this battle while he was running at high speeds he could see his injured mother laying next to scarlet while cocoa was being knocked around.
The white fox named hunter stopped throwing ice spikes and started freezing the floor to slip her up while freezing her bones and joints.
Grey could feel that although she didn't feel pain she wouldn't last long as her was shattering the frozen limbs.
"TCH just go away you dumb fox! I got places to be right now." Grey yelled while running away.
"Sure just leave behind a foot or two and you can walk away no problem." The speedy fox said sarcastically.
Grey was so focused on everything else around him he didn't notice he ran into a dead end ally between buildings.
Grey stopped just barely before hitting the wall and tried to turn around to escape only to see the fox already blocking the way with a evil grin.
"Crap" grey managed to mutter dispute breathing heavily like someone ready to collapse.
Grey immediately ran to the wall and tried jumping between the corners to build momentum and scale the wall only to be sent speeding into the ground below by a speeding paw.
Grey laid flat in a small crater his energy quickly fading.
The more his energy was used up the less of the area around him he could see.
He could see everything around him slowly fading away.
He saw winter and golo resting while Tony seemingly charged up energy again, he saw cocoa fight and Maria commanding his kin to finish up the last two foxes.
And after a few seconds of heavy breathing he ran out of energy and could only see with his eyes.
And this scared him the uncertainty of what was happening was worse than knowing for grey.
"JAJAJAJAJA, it looks like your out of options now be a good lil rabbit and die!"
At this point grey could no longer understand the fox speaking but he felt the malice.
Grey gritted his teeth and slowly pulled himself up. His once clean grey fur was now stained with blood and mud. While his left arm was oddly limp probably due to the fall earlier but still he stood up with defiant eyes as he stared down his foe.
"Well? Y- you wanted a meal? Here I am you ugly… thing? I need a minute for a more hurtful insult can you wait?"
The fox just laughed at the rabbit last bit of defiance before his death. "I haven't laughed this hard for a while and for that I'll make it painless… mostly."
The fox lunged towards grey head slightly tilted and mouth open ready chomp on the rabbit in front of him.
As the fangs came closer to greys head mere inches he smiled viciously. He shoved his right paw deeper into the foxes mouth before it closed around him and summoned his golden disc.
The sharp golden sand disc easily cut through the foxes throat it was summoned in while grey used the foxes momentum to push it deeper. Throughout the whole process grey let out a deep and primal scream of anger and pain.
The fox screamed in agony it tried clawing at the rabbit cutting it's throat but the light in its eyes was quickly fading.
Grey was the victor but just barley his breath heavy but his eyes were focused. "I was once the greatest prankster here… even a tier two beast feared my traps when powerless.
"It seems he was right I've been relying on more powers I forgot my roots weapons and traps." Grey mutated to himself as he dragged himself to the original battlefield.
Maria was commanding to rabbits around to makes sure to gather the injured as Rex finished the last fox with karma.
Karma looked at Maria "now let's go help grey he might be critically injured!"
Maria looked at the boy indifferently "sure, I'll stay and help that rabbit there heal the wounded you, Rex and blitz I think it was should go help grey be sneaking in and ambushing the fox."
Rex look by the wrecked mud and wood buildings as a earless shadow was approaching. "Guys incoming! Something is coming out."
Every looked in the direction of the buildings the setting sun made the shadows appear bigger than reality.
The all watched as a pair of golden eyes slowly wobbled towards them.
Everyone was silent as grey slowly walked past every one and approached Maria looking awful.
His whole body was drenched in blood while his back and shoulders were full of deep claw markings and his left paw lay dangling limply.
Grey looked blankly at Maria barely able to stand "heal… need." Was all grey said before dropping to a knee.
Karma stared at his best friend the claw marks in his back was deep enough to reveal cut bones yet he kept moving.
Karma then looked at himself a few cuts and bruises but nothing major. His luck rune made dodging much easier, he then looked over the battles are as Maria healed grey with a flower bud.
For every fix killed it seemed like the lost nine before Maria took command. Blood was laid about everywhere and the corpses were to many to count.
He saw blitz the worm rune user kneeling in a corner crying.
Karma slowly approached only to see two dead elders.
elder oak lay in her arm's lifeless as elder willow was covered in a broken wood armor slowly bleeding out. And behind them were several foxes that had tried to invade the makeshift shelter for the injured Daisy made.
Karmas ears twitched slightly as he heard a whisper. He followed the sound to the seemingly lifeless body of elder Willow of the eleventh burrow.
"D-don't trust t-the… council." Karma followed the voice to a plant with a face repeatedly saying that phrase in a small whisper.
Karma was about to pick it up when he heard a loud yell. "What the Hell is wrong with you! Your not even fully healed and you have no energy left!"
Karma looked back only to see a Maria yelling at grey walking toward the frozen gate.
"I still have a physical body to fight! Every other major fight is over the only one left is the leader and he hurt my mom! Imma make sure that bastard pays!"
Grey gritted his teeth his golden eyes flickered crimson but soon returned to it's natural yellow gold.
"Not alone your not! I still got energy to so I'm going!" Karma screamed while running up to grey his sickles were in each hand ready for battle.
Rex joined them as they Walked to the frozen gate a few other rabbits seeing this.
Also joined in all muttering something different to convince themselves.
"Those bastards killed my son"
"The leader must pay.
"It's just one life to take, and then we'll be safe."
Daisy screamed out "be careful we ran out of potions a while ago and we only have two healers!"
Grey painfully climbed the tall mud wall and started climbing down the ice stairs made earlier.
Tony's body appeared near greys feet from the ice. "Hey I healed golo and the ice rabbit but they are both out for the count and I can only build up enough energy for one shot? If you can give me a opening I can injure or even beat him."
Grey looked around and everyone was looking at grey waiting for orders leaving grey confused. "Me?"
Karma chuckled slightly "your the one who brought help and saved us all and ambushing others is your specialty." Every nodded remembering past pranks.
Blitz stepped the fury in her eyes was evident for all to see. "Elder oaks is… was very confident that once you grew up a little you would've made a great hunter or even an elder one day. He would say thing like that darn little demon if he gave up those prancing skills he'll be a great asset to the burrows with his talent for traps and weapons."
Blitz put her paw on greys shoulder making him flinch slightly. "Please…"
Grey nodded the gears in his head already spinning. "Ok I got a plan we'll split up into two teams the fastest will distract the fox and lead him into that area, grey pointed at area covered in ice and water. That's where Tony will be while the rest hides in the trees attacking from above with weapons and giant rocks while Tony attacks from below."
Blitz cheered "every follow the little demons plan we will get our revenge"
Every one chanted "little demon" over and over boosting morale greatly.
"Runners with me, no one is to die here our only job is to dodge and lead him here."
A few nodded.
Grey looked around him only karma, Rex, blitz and himself were runners while about twelve rabbits headed for the trees.
Grey looked ahead and saw his injured mother laying on a rock not to far away with scarlet probably nearby from what he heard earlier. They locked eyes for a moment and he could see the worry in her eyes deepen.
That sight only strengthened his resolve "I might not have any rune energy left but my physical body is also strong now."
Greys body started to change in front of everyone surprising them all
His eyes seemingly disappeared into his head as his blood stained fur retracted regrowing jet black as black bat wings grew out his back a scorpion tail slowly grew out behind him as an insect like armor grew around his paws only.
Everyone stopped in their tracks staring at grey in his near form.
Grey couldn't see now due to his bat for but it made up for it with its natural echolocation and his scorpion armor could sense vibrations in the ground he touched.
He could feel every one starting at him but he ignored it and followed the sounds of combat.
Grey stared running thanks to his chimera body he was physically stronger than most rabbit but he wasn't as fast as when he used his rune but he used his wings flaps to give him a strong push temporarily getting a quick boost in speed.
Every watch as the little demon actually turned into a demon and disappeared in a black blur with pure physical power.
"Elder was right… he is a demon!" One rabbit muttered.
Karma stared at that rabbit "Remember he is our Demon fighting for us."
Karma soon dashed off too at much lowers speeds but still impressive, Rex and blitz soon joined him running soon after.
