The strange lizard's black, pearl-like eyes looked at Bai Xi, then at the little monkey in the tree. After a one-second pause, it began crawling up the trunk toward the monkey.
High up on the trunk, the little monkey's cries grew louder as it shook the branches until they RUSTLED.
Bai Xi looked at the little monkey, feeling a twinge of pity. She hesitated, wondering if she should intervene.
At that moment, a mission notification appeared.

By now, the Round Armor Beast had climbed to a height of two meters. It was in a straight-line distance of five or six meters from Bai Xi, and seven or eight meters from the little monkey.
Just as Bai Xi finished reading the mission details, the Round Armor Beast suddenly changed direction. Baring its razor-sharp teeth, it lunged rapidly toward her.
