Chapter 48 - Chapter 48|WHAT IT COST ME |

After I stopped making the snacks, the house became strangely quiet.

There were no bags waiting to be packed.

No food being prepared for his students.

No counting of the day's sales.

Nothing.

The routine that had filled my mornings disappeared overnight.

He continued going to school.

I continued staying home.

And although neither of us complained, I could feel the difference.

One evening, he came home and found me sitting quietly.

"You're thinking again," he said.

I smiled faintly.

"I'm always thinking."

He sat beside me.

"You did nothing wrong."

"I know."

"Then why do you look sad?"

I looked at him.

"Because I finally felt like I was doing something."

He didn't answer immediately.

I continued.

"I wasn't working, but at least I was helping. I was making something with my own hands. I was contributing."

He reached for my hand.

"You were never useless."

His words touched me, but they didn't erase the feeling inside me.

I had spent so much of my life feeling like I wasn't enough.

So when I finally found something that made me feel useful, losing it hurt.

But I didn't blame him.

Not once.

If anything, I was proud of him for holding on to his job.

I knew how difficult life had been for both of us.

He needed that opportunity.

And I wasn't going to allow my little business to destroy it.

Days passed.

Then weeks.

Life continued.

But something inside me had changed.

I started asking myself questions.

What did I want for my own life?

What could I build without depending on someone else?

How long was I going to sit and wait for an opportunity to find me?

I didn't have the answers yet.

But the questions had started.

And sometimes, questions are the beginning of transformation.

I began looking around me differently.

I watched people who had started with almost nothing and built something for themselves.

I wondered whether I could do the same.

Maybe the snack business ending wasn't the end of my story.

Maybe it was simply another door closing.

And perhaps another one would open.

I didn't know what was waiting for me.

I only knew that I was tired of being powerless.

I wanted my own money.

My own work.

My own identity.

I wanted to wake up one day and know that whatever I had, I had built with my own hands.

So I made a silent promise to myself.

One day, I would work again.

One day, I would build something bigger.

And when that day came, I would never again allow anyone to make me feel small because I wasn't working.

At that moment, I didn't know how it would happen.

I didn't know where the opportunity would come from.

But life had already taught me one thing:

Sometimes, the chapter you think is about losing something is actually the chapter where your real journey begins.

Therefore I didn't allow the situation bother me much even though I was hurt and disappointed.
