Chapter 4 - 3 Months gone by.

bang....bang...bang, go the rhythm of the hammered singing untold mysteries, waiting for the human mind to comprehend, to surpass what has been and will be.

" ... phew, ah I guess this is the last one today" Nyūsen who looks better toned owing to the rigor of his new job, looks down at the masterpiece he had just created. After the episode with Nana months ago, he took up blacksmithing and developed a passion for the skill.

He went into the town near their mountain home and met with the best blacksmith to become his apprentice. The blacksmith once rumored to be the best across many counties, one who had nothing to do in such a small town, the blacksmith whose name was Kageyama.

(Kageyama's POV)

I look at the young boy who was no more than four having strength someone his age shouldn't possess hammering away at the piece of steel. 'It's beautiful' these were my exact thoughts, the way he moved his hand and body, his appropriation of strength his rhythm all was nothing short of breathtaking. He hit the metals like he could see right through them l: like he knew what point needed to be hammered than the other. His change of pace, from fast to slow all in sync and harmony. 'Is he just an apprentice'. 'Ahh' I sigh, it seems like it's been forever since he became my apprentice, or was it three years, it surely can't be months, right? "Who am I kidding, it's just been three months" I murmur dispirited. "Old man, you said?", I guess he heard me, then I notice his term of address.

"Who are you calling an old man, you brat" I yelled.

He chuckled slightly, smiled, and said "well I'm very sure you aren't young, and that makes you old.

'Ahhh inner peace: breath in, breathe out. I held on to my horses and continued to watch him. Finally... bang... he dropped the hammer, "...phew, ah I guess this is the last one today" We both look down at the now finished cutlass-like blade. "Well done brat, you've gotten better" I went on to appraise the blade, it isn't anything special (what would you expect to come from scrap steel) but it was definitely well made. I sigh for the umpteenth time today(sighing and doubting my years of hard work seem to have become a norm) and look up to the boy, his eyes clear and bright, and behind those starry eyes(literally) was a thirst for adventure. I moved my hand to his head absentmindedly and gave him a head pat. "You did well kid". "Thanks pops". He said, "Pops I should head home now or else Nana would lose it". He sprung up to his feet and jogged out of the smithy. "Bye ! Old man," He said as his voice trailed off. I wasn't just going to let home win so I replied " You brat, just wait till I get you!" I heard him laugh. Just then I noticed: 'I.. I....sm... smiled?'. I thought I would never.... since that day. Not bearing to continue my thoughts I walked up to a compartment in my smithy. Opening up the compartment I brought out a katana. Its sheath is pretty plain but it glowed an obsidian black. Looking at the katana brought back memories I had forced down for many years, memories of the pain from many years back. Tears began to fall in trickles as I remembered my days as a that created the nichirin swords used by the demon slayer corp, the days I lived in the blacksmith village. Right next to the katana is a hairclip. 'It wasn't all that expensive, I don't know why you loved it, why you loved me... Yuki!'
