"That's not an issue then," William replied, dismissing Kong's concern with a casual wave of his hand. Instead of being intimidated by the workload of the Forging department, he countered with a laugh that was even louder than Kong's.
"I have a much higher rank than yours in that department anyway, so you'll probably be the one taking orders from me."
"Oh! You've already joined?" Kong's eyes shone with a brilliant, intense light. He had only mentioned the department to tease William, assuming the "Porter of the Academy" hadn't even stepped foot into the specialised workshops yet. He never truly expected that William had already secured a place there.
Kong was no amateur; he knew the names of almost every disciple and master within the Forging department. He knew the hierarchies, the inner circles, and the rising stars. Yet, he had never once heard William's name associated with the forge until the battle.
