The thought that suddenly popped into his head made Li Huowang shudder. He carefully patted himself down all over, and only after confirming he hadn't gained an extra Jade Pendant did he finally let out a deep sigh of relief.
"Right, it was just a dream. It was just a dream," Li Huowang muttered to himself, still shaken.
"What's wrong?" Bai Lingmiao lit the oil lamp, her eyes bleary with sleep as she asked.
"Nothing. It's nothing at all. Go back to sleep."
Seeing that Li Huowang wouldn't explain, Bai Lingmiao said no more and closed her eyes. Her white-haired head leaned gently on his shoulder, and her slender palm softly stroked his steadily rising and falling chest.
Pressing her hand to his chest with his own, Li Huowang stared up at the beams overhead. "Miaomiao."
"Mm?" Half-awake, Bai Lingmiao responded instinctively.
"Do you want to know about my past? Do you want to know why I have hysteria?"
