Feierbahah's youthful face broke into a brilliant smile at Charles. "Yeah, when SITE2 came down, I never thought I'd actually survive. Maybe it was just luck."
Charles stared through the thick glass at the Narwhal in the distance, which was gradually being surrounded by depth charges. "Why did you seek me out? Don't tell me you're here to beg for mercy."
Something seemed to cross Feierbahah's mind. The bright smile on his face dimmed for a moment but quickly bloomed again. "Captain, you've won. The Central Computer is gone, and the Foundation is no longer your match. But do you really have to kill every last one of them?"
With a slight movement of his two heads, Charles swam up to the barely one-meter-tall Feierbahah, towering over him like a giant.
He looked at the ever-cheerful Feierbahah from the Narwhal—the boy he remembered cuddling a red shark in the sea, laughing like an idiot, and cheating at cards in the cabin. "Do you think I would?"
