You know that feeling after drinking too much and it felt like you had like a cotton ball in your mouth to follow along with a throbbing headache? Yeah that was my awakening.
Oh, and the heavy feeling of weight at my side, and as I blinked awake. I just stared at the exposed tits of who was certainly Ahri, whose loose kimono had come loose as she snuggled up to me.
Then I 'woke' up more with my mind filling with the drunken memories of last night as Ahri had come to watch me doing my building and I freely shared Soma's divine wine and we had both gotten plastered, though we didn't do anything.
So! The very first thing I did was chug down some water, and then mixed together a healing and mana potion, which would help get rid of the migraine even as Ahri shifted slightly on the hammock we were sleeping in, with her resting her head on my stomach as she rolled around a bit.
'Well this is something.' I mused as I blinked tiredly as I wondered if this was actually Ahri and not some other spirit who would steal my soul through nibbling on my toes or some bullshit.
And after hearing me chugging down some water along with the healing potion mix. Ahri whispered. "Give me a drink as well."
So I offered the cup to Ahri rolled off of my partly so she could drink the water and then I was welcomed to the sight of Ahri's gleaming slit yellow eye's as she took me in a whole new way.
'"Hmm, I am suprised you didn't handsy with me." She said a bit flirty as she pulled her robe back together and tucked big ol titties away.
I gave a wry smile to that and replied calmly. "Ehh, I at least like to have dinner with a girl before anything happens."
Ahri just sniffed and said with amuesment. "Truly a man of the ages. Now, seeing as you are no longer completely drunk, and the spirits aren't dancing in our minds. What is your name my hammock partner."
"Jake Bariss. And I am to assume you are the oh so famous fox woman Ahri?" The advantage of the League universe was that most people of note already knew one another. Especially champion level people.
Ahri tilted her head to the side slightly with her ears twitching before she hummed and said calmly. "That is correct. Would I be correct that you are on some form of spiritual journey or something to that effect?"
I shrugged. "Honestly, I am just a traveler looking for new sights. New things to experience and just looking for a challenge to make myself grow."
There was a pause before Ahri placed a small hand on my stomach to steady herself as she climbed out of the hammock and then she stretched with her beautiful white tails stretching as well before she sagged a bit in place. "Fine then. Let's go catch some fish for the morning meal."
I also got out of my hammock then and followed behind Ahri. "How long do you think you will be here in the land of Omikayalan? Where did you come from before you arrived here? You do not look to be from Zaun or Piltover?" Ahri patiently listed a few questions.
"Three questions so quickly huh?" I said with a bit of teasing. Then I hummed and said quietly. "I will be here for as long as I feel like as the spirits let me remain for some hundred years which I will not likely stay that long. As for where I came from previously?"
I shrugged as Ahri looked over her shoulder at me thoughtfully. "I am not from this world. So any details-"
Ahri cut me off as she said with teasing amuesment. "Oh Jake I am very aware you are not of this world. Your life force tastes of the stars, of divinity, and the countless slain monsters that covers your aura like a great hunter's mantle."
"Huh, most people tend to freak out about the being from another world bit." I said a bit sheepishly.
But Ahri just snorted and retorted. "Maybe for some worlds and their people. But here in Ionia? We have Bard the Starcaller who can speak to other worlds, we have the invading voidlings. And I have heard plenty of the Star God Aurelion Sol over in Mt Targon."
Honestly I didn't exactly have a response to that.
Still we made our way to the lake and as we looked into the lake. Ahri gave a small exhale before speaking quietly. "Now, we quiet down. The fish in the river are blessed by the potent magic running through the land as you may guess."
Relaxing my own form, I realized that despite Ahri being a special kind of kitsune Vastaya with access to her own magic. She wasn't going to use her own magic, hence why I didn't do that either.
I waded into the water with the water parting around my body with no noise oddly. Despite clearly feeling the water around me however in a rushing chilly wave of force. Despite the odd feeling, of 'water' rushing through my clothes, the water was also completely crystal clear.
This allowed us to easily see the fish ahead of us.
But as we settled in to attempt to catch the fish that were going to swimming past us as they followed the light current. With my mind clearing away, I remembered more of last night.
But although me and Ahri didn't do anything besides Ahri climbing into my hammock as we passed out. I still remember Ahri joining in to help me move some stuff around as I built the small temple.
I relaxed in the fey like water that was washing past us. And with a snap of motion, my hand smacked into the head of a fish, stunning it as I smacked back the way it came before my other hand snaked forward and I grabbed the fish by it's back fin.
I pulled the fish out of the water and my lips twitched as I saw how the spines running along its back had tiny lights at the very end of the spines. 'Yeah... Those spines have to have some kind of super poison or something right?' I mused to myself.
Then I heard a light chuckle as Ahri said in amusement. "You successfully grabbed the only fish that is completely inedible even for being's like ourselves."
A soft exhale of a snort left me, and I just let the fish go, who quickly swam away as Ahri explained how the fish I caught was used to make poisoned arrows and tinctures by the local warriors and monks.
"Oooh, this is a good one!" Ahri said with a small smile as she grabbed a larger fish by hooking her hand in its mouth, and she pulled the large fish out of the water.
"That's a good find." I agreed and I followed the fox woman who just waved a hand at me as she strode out of the river. And as we left the river, I couldn't help but note how my clothes lost all the 'water' that came from the river.
As though the water in the river didn't want to leave where it was from.
'Yeah... I should probably not drink any of that river water even if I boil it.' I thought with a wry smile.
"Hmm, the fish from the river will help your mana regenerate as well. So, is there anything in particular you wanted to do today?" Ahri asked curiously as she brought the fish over the fire pit I made yesterday.
And as I began helping gut and clean the fish, without a word about it. I instead thought thoughtfully. "I have no major plans. The whole point of settling here for a small period was that I myself had no greater plans that needed my attention."
Ahri gave a soft hum of agreement. "Finding yourself a moment of peace can be a good thing. Still, if you don't mind. Perhaps we could walk the valleys of Omikayalan, and you may take in its beauty."
'Is Ahri flirting with me directly?' I mused to myself before I shrugged and said with an easy smile. "Sure... I certainly have the time for it."
And thus our conversation turned outwards as we talked about to best cook the fish as although Ahri just wanted to bake it while hanging it next to the fire from a stick. I, however, wrapped up mine in foil that had some garlic and lemon butter that would flavor the fish as I cooked it.
"Hmm, a product of man. So what was the world you were from like? As I have never seen metal so thin." She said with a raised eyebrow as she messed with the aluminum foil that I had from Danmachi.
I chuckled and said easily. "Hmm, the last world... It was certainly something. It is a world blessed by what some would say would be too many foolish and meddlesome gods. Gods who find it the most entertaining to bless the mortals and live vicariously through us and the blessing they give us."
"Sounds almost like Shurima then... Then are the world's problems born of your too many gods actions or inaction?" Ahri asked quietly and I sighed as that was a good question.
"It's... Complicated." I started with a rueful smile of consideration crossing my face before I continued in a soft tone. "They are gods for sure.... Beings of great power that could do so much, but just as there are gods of fire, justice, marriage, harvests, and other good things. There are god's who are bound by their domains to be naught but evil."
"For better or worse. The gods have all but their powers as they interact with the lower world I was from. So although the evil gods could have their actions influence others through the people they brainwash or bless. The evil gods can't directly act while in a lot of cases, a god of healing, even with their powers sealed, can still aid in the recovery of others and such."
Our conversations continued with Ahri lowering her outwardly flirty husky tone, and I quickly realized that when she was relaxed that she was a lazy fox girl in reality.
