Still in the north, Minato's clone had just vanished atop the northern tsunami, while Kumo quickly tried to stop the force of the water as best they could after losing the Bijuudama.
Using several lightning jutsus and a few water ones, with the Two-Tails also stepping in front of the Uzumakis' attack. They quickly began to counter the tsunami.
Even so, parts of the giant waves ended up hitting some of the destroyed ships, while the Raikage grew furious.
"Did we forget that detail?" he asked himself, remembering very well that Minato could teleport bijūdama during the Second War and use them against them.
However, what had actually happened was in the area of Iwa.
"He's trying to pit us against each other... Iwa must be enraged, especially when the attack came from our area. I doubt they'll be happy, even if we try to explain," the Raikage thought. "The boy is clever."
Either way, the sea still raged with the impact of the water. Even if all the tsunamis weren't strong enough to take down the fleets, they still moved the water that had been concentrated around the sides of the island.
"Well, everyone, it's up to you now," said Tsuna, returning to the Uzumaki group before disappearing, bursting into a cloud of smoke as the clone dissipated.
"Let's prepare for the next step," said one of the Uzumakis. After all, the tsunami was only part of the plan, never meant to be the final strike.
Out at the fleets, things began to calm down. "Let's keep going. They must have used up a lot of chakra with that last jutsu." All the Kages had said practically the same thing to their soldiers, advancing once again — but the Uzumakis had done nothing except wait for them from the shore.
"This is strange..." the Mizukage murmured, feeling that something was off, since his instincts warned him that things weren't as simple as they seemed.
One of the ninjas was still searching for any sign of Minato in the water while looking from the edge of the ship. He couldn't help but notice some strange reflections on the surface, thinking it odd that only one kind of object could cause that, but he saw nothing but water. He narrowed his eyes.
He paid closer attention and, as the ship moved, his eyes saw the sea from different angles — and more reflections began to appear.
"This..." he murmured immediately. "My lord, there's something in the water!" said the ninja, while others quickly went to look, also beginning to see small flashes as the sunlight hit at certain angles.
He quickly leaned down, let go of the ship, and put his hand into the water until he finally touched something half-transparent.
"What is this?" He shook it and began to see better, until he noticed a paper with fūinjutsu markings on it.
"This..." Immediately, he dropped the paper, jumping back into the ship in fright, not wanting that thing to explode in his hand. The paper fell into the water and stayed there, floating.
"What's happening?" The Kazekage approached in the middle of the confusion.
"My lord, the water is full of explosive tags!" shouted one of the men, while around the ships — and even inside them — several reflections could be seen from something floating on the surface. There were hundreds of thousands of explosive tags there, perhaps more than a million.
"It can't be..." The Mizukage's face turned pale as his eyes shifted toward the island. He could still see the Uzumakis there, waiting for him to approach. There was only one reason for that.
That tsunami wasn't meant to destroy them — it was only to drag the explosive tags surrounding the island into the middle of the fleets. And now, they were exactly inside the Uzumakis' trap.
"Quick! Protect yourselves!" was the first thing he shouted in every direction, yelling at his men. Not only him, but all the fleets were terrified at that moment. Every ship was surrounded — there was no escape.
"Seems like they've already figured it out, commander. Should we start? They might try some jutsu to push that water away..." said an Uzumaki, while Tsuna, in her original body, stepped back as Kushina and Mikoto approached her.
"There are at least five million explosive tags on all sides of the island. Now, cover your ears and let's watch the show!" said Tsuna, as the two companions nodded.
In the next moment, the Uzumakis began forming hand seals, sending chakra remotely to the explosive tags. They were a special type — if one exploded, all the others would trigger a chain reaction as soon as they came into contact with the fire.
"Quick! Cast water shields around yourselves! That's the end of the fleet!" There was no way to escape it. The Mizukage realized that all he could do was defend himself, unleashing defensive jutsus. Unfortunately, there was no way to save everyone, but he swore he would take revenge as soon as the explosions ended.
The next moment, one explosive tag caught fire and detonated, setting off another. Quickly, it became a chain of explosions that tore through the entire sea, engulfing the fleets.
It wasn't just there. The sound was unbearable even for the kunoichis who covered their ears. Explosions came from every direction.
It was a beautiful show for the people on the island, while high above, Minato watched. It was a true spectacle of fire, water, and steam, illuminating every corner of the island below him, with water and vapor rising over the fleets, covering them with flames.
"Did they think it would be easy to deal with us?" Minato sneered.
The Uzumaki clan's defense was perfectly positioned to protect the island. They would destroy a large part of the enemy fleets before they even set foot on land.
In the Land of Fire, Zetsus listened to the explosions, gathering information about everything that was happening, setting aside their surprise and heading back to the Land of Fire to pass along information to be sent to the Land of Waterfall. After all, what was happening in Uzushiogakure was urgent.
The Konoha ninjas, positioned in front of the coast, were the first to see the explosion of the bijūdama. They stood stunned, unsure if it had happened outside the island or within it, swallowing hard.
"My God... what kind of battle is going on there?" one of the ninjas exclaimed, never having seen a bijūdama in action during the war. He didn't know the full power of a tailed beast, but seeing that explosion terrified him deeply.
"They're using tailed beasts... damn it. I just hope the explosion didn't happen inside the island, otherwise a large part of the Uzumakis has ceased to exist by now..." the captain muttered.
"At this rate, I doubt our efforts will make it in time. By then, they'll all be destroyed," another commented.
"There's no point in doing anything now. Let's just wait and stand by for orders from the Kage," said one of the ninjas, as everyone held their position.
Other explosions erupted at that moment, from various directions — not as deafening as the bijūdama, but certainly a piercing sound that echoed through the region.
More questions arose about how they were handling the situation and whether the Uzumakis were managing to protect themselves.
Either way, the sea churned on all sides. In Uzushiogakure, the leader of the Uzumaki clan had climbed to one of the highest points, watching the devastation alongside the elders.
"Look at that!" he began to laugh. "All those days creating explosive tags and forcing our members to produce them were worth it!"
"Yes. Now they don't have as much strength as before... They clearly lost a considerable part with that attack. They were so confident they didn't even think about preparing for something like this," said Mu Uzumaki, with a proud tone, satisfied that they had dealt an irreparable blow to their enemies.
"The report has arrived," announced a ninja, approaching the leader and bowing.
"Proceed," he said, in good spirits.
"Some Iwa ninjas are running toward Kumo's fleet," the messenger replied.
"What? Why would that happen? There was a bijūdama explosion on the west side of the island. Are they exchanging reports?" the leader asked, still confused after learning that a bijūdama had come from the north and hit Iwa's own allies.
"More than that — they want to know what happened... It was Minato Namikaze," the Uzumaki answered. "He used some kind of variation of the Second Hokage's space–time jutsu. The bijūdama that the Two-Tails launched against the tsunami... he simply teleported it elsewhere, sending it straight toward their own allies."
"That really happened... He's very clever..." the leader murmured, fascinated by the feat.
"Either way, we've struck a strong blow against them. But it's not over yet. Tell everyone to get ready. The real war is about to begin."
Minato was in the sky, watching the explosions, when his eyes narrowed. The destruction was still intense. Suddenly, a new explosion erupted, emerging from the smoke and steam to the north, as another bijūdama was fired directly toward the Uzumaki island.
At the moment it approached, startling all the ninjas near the coast, it struck the first barrier with great force, which was immediately pushed backward. Everyone felt the impact. The Uzumakis quickly retreated from that area before the barrier burst — and the bijūdama simply shot into the sky before exploding into a massive sphere of energy, its flash blinding almost everyone and nearly hitting Minato himself, as the explosion occurred close to him.
In the midst of the chaos and destruction of the ships, the Two-Tails seemed enraged, pounding against the water beneath its feet and roaring. Several ninjas began to run, many of them wounded from the explosion, while Kumo advanced — the Raikage was leading his first group forward toward Uzushiogakure, now moving over the water along with thousands of ninjas.
The same was happening with Iwa, as Ōnoki flew ahead, with his jinchūrikis, other ninjas, and the army advancing as well.
At the same time, Suna, with Rasa leading the group, and Kiri were also on the move, as the Kazekage ran over the water, charging forward with strength.
However, each group had sent between five to six thousand ninjas for this mission, totaling more than twenty thousand — what should have been a massacre against the five thousand Uzumakis. Yet they hadn't even reached the island and had already lost half their forces, thanks to Minato's intervention, Tsuna's jutsu, and the explosive tag trap.
"Now it's my turn!" Hanabi murmured, advancing with a group of Uzumakis carrying bows. They were heading west, where Iwa's forces — mostly Earth Release users — lacked many long-range attacks, making them perfect targets to be taken down more easily.
Meanwhile, the other Uzumakis also divided themselves, not only providing reinforcements for Hanabi and the long-range attack with the bows but also preparing on all fronts. The enemies were already approaching the barriers, while another beast was forming in the east — the Three-Tails being released.
Kushina was also paying attention to that and preparing to fight, as was Mikoto.
