Chapter 1 - Chapter 001

Daisy Sampson. Age: Eighteen. Just completed graduation.

"Argh!" Daisy screamed in frustration. She had been trying to fill out application forms for college which was still very unsuccessful. She fake cried and then snorted and then cringed at her own behaviour. "I'm so done with this stuff." She whispered to herself.

Her family had shifted to Hudson, New York just yesterday and she had this burden on herself to find herself a good college there. But it was very difficult plus with all the family drama she was sure she'd die for good.

"Daisy, come downstairs! Right now!" Her mother, Janet yelled from the stairs.

She got up, shouting a 'yes'. Was she going to be scolded again?

Her family hated her, at least she thought they hated her. Her elder brother, Damien, her mother, her father, everyone seemed to despise her. She was never the one to speak up in her house.

"I am here."

"Tell me why you did not do your dishes?"

"I did 'em. That's Damien's." She sighed. This was not new.

"Oh? When will you stop blaming your brother?!" Her mother yelled. "Do the dishes now! No excuses!"

Her eyes filled with angry tears but she didn't let the drop causing her eyes to irritate and turn red as she did her brother's dishes.

"Hey, idiot. Doing my dishes, I see."

Her eyebrows furrowed and she look behind to see if her mother was there. She was not. Of course, now she wouldn't be here, when he is accepting that he did not clean his dishes. All the love just goes for him anyway. She's only existent in the house for chores.

She sighed. "I am not in the mood, Damien. Go away."

"What if I don't? You going to go and cry to mama?"

"As if I can do that." She mumbled.

He chuckled. "You know, I wanted to talk to you about something serious but you keep pushing me away."

"There's nothing serious about the way you just chuckled and told me that."

"Come on! I'll tell you what-"

She cut his words off as she turned around after washing her hands. "What prank is it this time?"

"It's not a prank, I swear."

She studied him for a second, squinting her eyes. "It is."

"It isn't."

"It is!"

"It isn't! Just hear me out! Okay?"

"Okay. Whatever. I don't have time so speak up."

"There's a castle here. It's haunted. Want to explore that with me and my friends?"

"Wait..." What? She could not process this. She loved abandoned buildings. Plus, she always wanted to hang out with him and talk. But her brother asking her to hang out with his friends? No. This could not be real. "You're joking. You're lying. I told you I don't have time for this."

"Okay, fine. Since you and I don't spend time together. I asked but I guess you do not want to come with us."

Her heart melted. "You're asking this for real?" How could it be? He had always shown no interest in her whatsoever. Never even tried to talk to her. Ignored her all the times she had initiated a conversation and then when she finally gave up, here he is.

"Yes."

"When are you guys going?"

"We'll leave in half an hour or so. So go upstairs and pack yourself up. I'll tell mom that you are going with me."

"Okay." She whispered and ran through the stairs and smiled brightly as she reached her room. She jumped in happiness. She can finally call her brother, a brother.

"Hey, dumbass!" Damien whisper-yelled as he sneaked on his sister, and chuckled as she jolted. She glared at him but disregarded it. "When are we going to go?"

"Now." He smirked as he unlocked the door.

There was little light coming in through the window so Daisy had seen the smirk he had on.

"You're...this is no prank, right?" She tried to confirm again because it was suspicious.

"No. It is not. Will you stop annoying me already?" He tensed but quickly sighed as he walked out.

She pouted slightly while glaring daggers at him but then became normal. She wanted to enjoy tonight. She even attempted to start a conversation with her brother but it wasn't very successful because of his friends coming around them soon.

"Hey." A brown-haired boy spoke lazily. "I am Nate."

"Daisy." She smiled, shaking his hand.

"And I am Colby. Nice to meet you."

"HI! I AM-" Damien covered her mouth and whispered, "Not so loud, Natalie." She nodded and pouted as he left her, holding her hand instead.

"She's my girlfriend. Natalie."

"Oh...hi." Daisy smiled brightly getting a huge smile back from her.

"Okay anyway. This is Nicholas, call him Nick, and that's it. Others couldn't make it. Now let's go." He said hurriedly causing Daisy to squint her eyes at him. One thing about Damien, was that he was patient with everything and everyone, and her sister knew that very well. Seeing him so impatient to go there, made it all so suspicious. However, she didn't want to ruin the moment by suspecting him of such a small thing.

As they walked towards the big castle, most of them gasped while some had their eyes widen. But Daisy, she stared at in admiration, trying to remember if she had seen it somewhere. If felt like Deja-vu to her. Her brother's friends talking about the castle and her staring at it completely zoning out. It was a Deja-vu.

The castle was huge with broken glasses and windows, black and white walls which were dirty and scraped as opposed to the beautiful sunflowers and daisies in the field before it and an aesthetic pond beside a gigantic tree which seemed like it existed since five thousand years.

"Let's go inside." Colby said with an excited glint in his eyes.

All of them went through the flowers to the castle's huge front door. Colby mumbled, "What the fuck," as they all saw the door just creaking open itself and suddenly there was a huge a thud that came from inside. Natalie immediately held Damien's hand tightly. "You sure this is a good idea?" She spoke.

"Come on, you guys are not backing out just because of the door opening. It's windy today and cold." Nick said.

Yes, it is windy and cold but it is a huge door which seems heavy as fuck, Daisy thought to herself, excited to go in that's why she didn't comment.

Soon, they were all inside, exploring, when Daisy's eyes fell on a painting as she moved her torch towards it.
