Chapter 11 - Chapter 1: The Act

I sat on the bench looking at the river. The river was satisfying to look at. The idyllic ambiance of the sounds of the river's water being slapped on the rocks gave a calming effect. It was peaceful on the bench as I focused on nature. The nature that surrounded me.

"You called."

I didn't bother to look at who it was. I knew who it was because I could instantly tell from their voice. A usually stern voice but today his voice seemed like it was in a good mood.

"Yamada-san, I need you to do something for me."

"Is it related to the incident with Akito and the boys from Class 1-C?"

"So you do know."

"Of course I do; everyone does." Yamada said almost as if he was annoyed.

Yamada did seem to be in a good mood. He isn't always like this. Many could speculate that he might have gotten or girlfriend or something but I didn't think that would happen now. Yamada isn't the type of person who would be desperate for a girlfriend—He always thought that academics should be first then his friends. He didn't have time for love.

"I want you to be his lawyer."

"Huh? Why me?"

"Well, I'm sure you can handle it. I heard that a third year is going to be there, Tashiro Yuuji."

Tashiro Yuuji was a person who Yamada admired because they were once from the dust and grew to be a diamond. Their hard work and determination was what Yamada admired.

"I don't know how you found it out. I guess I have no choice then." Yamada said, feeling defeated. "Since when did I start taking orders from you?" He said to himself.

"I just thought that you were the best person to help Akito."

"Why didn't you? He is your best friend after all."

I valued my peace more than the feelings and emotions of others. I chose to not help Akito as it would draw too much attention to me as it wasn't a small incident. A case involving blades and fighting wasn't let off so easily.

"I'll give you the details and what to say so you don't need to do anything. Just read off the paper I'm going to give you like it's a script."

"How do you know what will be said?"

"You shouldn't worry about that, you have other things at hand."

I should keep Yamada to discover it on his own. It benefits both of us. I can find out how observant Yamada is and how quickly it'll take him to find out. It also benefits me because the less that is known about me the better.

"I'll be going then." I said as I stood up and went past Yamada into the park behind him.

"Quick question, Tsukamoto-san, how did you find this place?"

"I don't know, I was just walking around."

Well, I didn't lie. I was walking around when I heard water so I went to see what it was then I found out that there was a whole river here and a bench in the perfect place to sit and look at the river.

There was a whole week until the holidays started. After the holidays there had to be an exam. A special exam because after six weeks, most students must have definitely gotten closer to each other and in the holidays students will grow even closer to their friends. That would be the perfect time to start the special exams. This school wasn't like other schools.

I walked to my dormitory through a park. A park like this was never a good idea to go through by yourself because of the number of couples. The fact in just six weeks, couples already formed blew my mind. I thought it would take around 2-3 months however, it seems teenagers don't waste any time and try to get a girlfriend or a boyfriend as soon as they can.

Akito and Harumi were now definitely closer to each other. If Akito tells me about him and Harumi that would determine our relationship status. If he did then that would mean he trusted me. This would be beneficial to me because then I could strengthen this relationship between Akito and me.

Multiple days went past and Kaori hasn't attacked yet. Either she is being careful and planning or she is getting ready. She is probably developing her pieces for the perfect attack. Regardless of what her plan is, it shouldn't happen during the holidays. If it does then something's wrong. She will most likely use her brother and his gang to fight me then she will probably try to threaten me and use me to help her with her main plan.

I walked out of the park and headed towards my dormitory. I walked and thought about other things when I then found Shimoda and her friend, Nakamoto. I could only see their hair and blazer but I couldn't see their faces.

"My brother's the Student Council President!" Shimoda yelled.

Why do I always find myself in these types of situations? I'll just act like I'm walking around and then when they notice me they might stop pestering Shimoda and Nakamoto. If they were in some sort of trouble with these people in the future it could end up beneficial to me so I should involve myself in this without doing anything. If these students try to pester them again then it's most likely that Shimoda and Nakamoto will go to me for help as I was the only bystander at the scene.

I then walked towards Shimoda and Nakamoto and I made myself noticed but also I made myself almost look as if I was deep in thought. I then put white wired headphones in my ears to make it look like I am listening to music. I then saw Shimoda and Nakamoto and they also saw me and they all stared at me.

Only two second-year students.

I recognised the students. Both the students were from Class 2-D. I then took out my headphones and looked at the students for a better look.

"Oh, sorry if I was interrupting." I said as I put my headphones back in my ears but just as I was about to Nakamoto ran up to me and grabbed my arm and held it.

"W-What are you saying? I invited you here."

Shimoda then caught on with Nakamoto's act then acted as if she didn't know that we were supposed to "meet up". My plan worked perfectly.

"Do you guys have any business with my girlfriend?" I said as I grabbed Nakamoto and held her in my arms with her back turned away from the second-year students.

"Your girlfriend huh? Sorry I had no idea." One of the second-year students said as they left. The anger was visible but this felt like it was only the beginning.

First Akito now me. What was going on?

"Keep the act, they're still looking." Shimoda whispered.

Nakamoto was completely bright red but we had to keep the act to keep them safe. If they weren't it will ruin my plans.

We continued the act and walked together. I then held Nakamoto's hand. Her skin was soft and smooth. I haven't touched someone's hand in so long. I avoided touching anyone's hand since the start of school because it would expose my strength.

I couldn't hold anyone's hand properly because I would accidentally break the bones in their hand and if I held it too lightly they could realise that I was holding back my strength. Fortunately for me, Nakamoto was the one squeezing my hand. It was like she didn't want to let go because she probably feared that the second-year students might come back.

One…two…three…five. Five. Five students are looking at us from inside the buildings near us. Looking through the windows of the buildings in broad daylight could expose your location and you'd die faster than you could react. Such amateurs.

"Are they still looking?" Nakamoto asked.

"Five are watching us through the windows so keep the act for more longer."

Impressive. She could tell as well and Nakamoto didn't doubt Shimoda. They must've gone through a lot together.

"Do you know why they are watching you two for?"

"Well coming from a wealthy family it's normal but I don't know the reason why these students are watching us." Shimoda replied.

Shimoda then looked at me then told me something as if we were speaking through telepathy. I understood everything she said.

"I'm going to leave you two alone. I can protect myself so don't worry about me. Just protect her."

I blinked my eyes in a form of agreement and Shimoda understood.

"Sorry but I'm going to have to go. I'll leave you two at it then. Bye!" Shimoda said as she left but she spoke to Nakamoto with Morse code by blinking with her eyes. Nakamoto understood and didn't argue with Shimoda.

These two have experience with these types of things. Then again it's normal considering her status in and out of the school and Nakamoto being Shimoda's best friend.

"Why did you try and save us?" Nakamoto asked.

As she was with Shimoda all the time and she had experienced a lot, she still had the ability to see through people.

"I had no choice; I couldn't just leave your two no matter how strong you guys are."

"Are you capable of protecting me, Tsukamoto-san?"

"Judge that for yourself, Nakamoto-san."

There was a short moment of silence which was then broken when we reached a dead end.

"Oh, it's a dead end." Nakamoto said.

"And here they come." I said as I felt the presence of seven students.

"Ah, you're all alone now."

"What was it? Your girlfriend? Don't make me laugh!"

We were cornered by the second-years but that's only what it looked like. I could use Nakamoto as well. If I used her I can control Shimoda as well and Nakamoto wasn't hard to manipulate as well.

No pocket knives or any other weapons? They were here confident in their ability in martial arts and their physical superiority. They were focused on Nakamoto for some reason. Not Shimoda but Nakamoto. They are probably going to use Nakamoto for their own benefit. Their goals were far more twisted than mine, I knew that for sure. I didn't have any dark intentions with Nakamoto, unlike these second-year students who were the opposite.

Nakamoto clung to my arm and hid behind me. I could tell she was scared because her body was trembling in fear but she tried to hide her fear. She probably didn't want me to see her afraid but it was a natural feeling. Whoever wasn't scared by this situation had to be a psychopath.

"Can you handle them Tadashi-kun?" Nakamoto whispered to me.

I had no idea why she called me by my first name and with honorifics. She was even whispering to me at a level that normal people weren't able to hear yet she still called me by my first name.

"Judge for yourself." I replied.
