Maethion's eyes remained fixed on Clyde, but they had begun to tremble. His mouth hung slightly open, and the color slowly drained from his face.
Only moments ago, he had been looking at a young survivor who had recently escaped a Selection Stage. A powerful young man, certainly. Someone Maethion had found impressive despite his age. But nothing more than a stranger.
Now, something has changed. Recognition had appeared in Maethion's mind, and the realization struck him with a huge force that he could barely breathe.
The face in front of him looked different, younger, completely unfamiliar. But the attitude was the same. The presence was the same. Even the faint energy surrounding him carried the feelings that Maethion had known for long.
He knew that presence.
