Alicia folded the last shirt with a huff, stuffing it into the suitcase with more force than necessary. "Pack the suitcase," she mimicked under her breath, narrowing her eyes. "Like I'm his assistant or something."
Click.
She snapped the locks shut on both suitcases, grabbed the handles, and marched out of the chamber, skirts swishing around her ankles. Her soft flats made barely a sound on the polished floors, but her posture screamed attitude. She didn't bother calling for help, didn't wait for Adrien or Delbert or any of the palace staff.
No.
She was not going to give him the satisfaction of seeing her scramble around like a damsel.
She dragged the suitcases all the way through the winding hallways, out past the grand entrance, down the steps, and straight to the waiting vehicle by the main gates. The guards standing there blinked, unsure whether to assist or just move out of the way—and wisely chose the latter.
Thud.
Thud.
