Chapter 130 - Capture that flag!!!

Here's the passage with grammar and spelling errors corrected, content otherwise unchanged:

"You've got to be kidding—" She grunted, her voice cut off as I snatched the flag from her hand. In an instant she turned to me, frozen as a gust of wind blew past her. Standing between us, Charizard curled his tail around me, the flame on its tip burning ever so brightly.

"Tch—" Mindy stepped back, feet staggering against the metal floors in hopes of putting some distance between them.

"Blastoise, use bite!" She commanded, the creature launching forward for the Charizard once again.

"Thunder punch!" I retaliated, the dragon coiling itself around to the oncoming pokemon. His arm coiled back, a flash of light that erupted with the sound of thunder roared down the halls. It felt as though time froze and the area around me dimmed as the sound of a crackling storm bellowed in my ear.

With a swift blow, the Blastoise's face rippled under the Charizard's fist, soon igniting into wild, unpredictable energy.

"Blastoise!!" Mindy cried a guttural scream as she noticed her pokemon losing consciousness, the Pokemon's once rolled eyes snapping back into focus at the sound of its trainer's cry. It pushed into Charizard's fist, teeth gritting as it took the full extent of the blast, its mouth flooding with blue light.

"Ice beam!" As though it read her mind, Blastoise let out a torrent of ice that froze the dragon's fist, the thunder instantly dying down, now contained in ice.

"Quick, Flamethrower your hand—" I stumbled over the command but Mindy's order broke through.

"Blastoise, use surf!!" With the little strength it had left, Blastoise roared and water ran down the ship's halls, at first there was nothing, but then the ship started to rattle. I was knocked on my side, sliding down to the wall for support.

"Seems like we're hitting a bit of turbulence! Stay calm, non-participants, the ship won't sink! It'll just topple a bit…so stay clear from the deck!!"

I heard the announcer's voice come in from the intercom, a sigh of relief escaping my lips, and I noticed the same look on her face.

"What the hell were you thinking!"

"Hand the flag over!" She snapped back at me.

"I refuse!" I grunted, hugging the wall like my life depended on it.

"Blastoise, Ice Beam the floor!" She ordered, and he did just that, a beam of light ran through the floor, ice erupting on the trail it treaded. I lost my bearings immediately, unable to stand on the low friction floors.

"Charizard!" As if reading my mind, Charizard set the floor ablaze, the whole hall erupting into steam and engulfing everyone nearby.

She clicked her tongue, raising her arms to stop the steam from getting in her eyes as a gust of hot air rushed past her and Blastoise.

"Kabutops! Use Ancient Power!" Pieces of metal flew through the fog, hitting Blastoise square in the snout.

"Blastoise!" She cried out, but it was too late, her pokemon had already fainted. With a click of her tongue she recalled her pokemon, tossing out another ball that landed on the field. "Pidgeot!"

"Use Gust!" The pokemon flapped its wings as hard as it could, getting rid of the steam only to see that both my pokemon and I were nowhere to be seen.

I ran through the halls as fast as I could with Kabutops by my side, pushing past the other trainers without daring to look back. During my escape I ran into two familiar faces, their eyes snapping to me the instant they realized it was me.

"It's that kid again!" The office woman snapped, Raichu already running after me.

"This time you're gonna hand that flag over!!" Her male companion cried out to me. We ran out to the deck once more, the ship still staggering due to the intense waves as water splashed onto the deck with a loud slap to the wooden floors.

"Just a few minutes left…" I muttered to myself, voice lost in the angry tide. My hair whipped against my face in the wind as I continued to step back as they inched forward.

"There's nowhere to run, kid, the only exit is blocked!"

"There's someone cornered up there!" I heard voices from below, desperate voices that rushed up the metal steps, pokeballs in hand.

"Screw all this chasing crap! First one to grab it keeps it," I was surrounded by a lot of fresh-faced trainers, pokeballs in hand, all hoping to be the first to snag the flag from my grasp.

How the hell is this fair?!

I looked around, the smell of salt and the taste of seawater flooding my senses, not to mention the unstable footing beneath my feet.

 "Go Rhyperior!"

 "Raichu, Thunderbolt!!"

 "Hippopotas, use Hyper Voice!!"

 "Staryu, Hydro Pump!!!"

 "Blitzle, Flame Charge!!"

 "Mawile, Metal Claw!!"

 "Drifloon, Shadow Ball!"

 "Skiddo, Leaf Blade!!"

 "Girafarig, Psychic!!"

 "Swadloon, Solar Beam!!"

 "Get me that flag!!"

"Right…" I grunted, grabbing a pokeball from my belt with a soft huff as all of them charged at me, "Return for now, Kabutops!"

In an instant I called Charizard to the field as all the attacks started to fly, my heart racing as I climbed onto the dragon's back, pointing as fast as I could to the people surrounding us. "Charizard, Thunder Punch! Quickly!!"

Without wasting a second, Charizard coiled back his fist, punching the soaked floor as electricity rang throughout the shallow puddles that lingered there. Electricity flew wildly as trainers got shocked down their spines, certain pokemon like Hippopotas stopping their attack to turn to their trainer in concern.

I clutched Charizard's back as hard as I could, hoping not to fall into the electric hazard I'd created, and finally, once the attack stopped…

"Congratulations!!! If you managed to obtain a flag, YOU'RE NOW ENTERING THE NEXT ROUND!!!"

A sigh of relief flooded over me, I could hardly handle it as I slid down Charizard's rough scales. "We actually did it…"

Charizard looked down at me, his tail wagging slightly, giving me a thumbs up. I could only laugh and mimic the action, "Thanks buddy."

"Y-you heard them! You can't chase me anymore! Time's up!" The young boy cried out, backed into a dead end as Mindy cornered him.

"You think I care about that? Hand the flag over before I toss you overboard, kid!" She grabbed the child by his collar, the child struggling under her grasp as she snagged the flag from his hands.

"And if you tell anyone, your stupid Caterpie won't save you." Without another word she left, the boy curled up into a ball with soft sobs ringing through the hall.
