Chapter 128 - Capture The Flag

"Zorua use Dark Pulse!" I commanded, running down the hallway of the ship with a red flag in hand. Zorua, who ran by my side, jumped as high as she could, sending a huge sphere of darkness straight at the person chasing behind us.

"This way!" I announced, taking a left turn down the wide hallway, Zorua following soon after.

"HELLOOO POKEMON FANS!!!" the voice roared throughout the halls, as I ran for dear life. "THESE ARE THE RULES!"

"I've scattered flags all around the ship! Enough for at least four of you to pass until the next round! all you have to do is grab one from someone who already has it before the timer's out, ya dig?!"

"Just like tradition, one pokemon at a time! We're not savages! If I see more than one of your pokemon out at a time you're disqualified!! Oh and don't worry about damaging the ship, it was made specifically for this event so you can do whatever you wish!"

The people who didn't participate watched from the safety of their rooms, heavy pants escape my lips as I made my way down the hallways, eventually coming to a stop with my hands on my knees, out of breath.

"goddamn it! How much longer does this timer have?!"

Footsteps echoed behind me, the guys who chased me this far finally catching up. One was a man twice my age, his burly arms matching with the Rhyperior by his side, while the other seemed like some office woman with a Raichu.

Their pokemon glared us down, Raichu's cheeks erupting in static shocks as they both step closer. A two v one isn't fair at all!

"tch-" I clicked my tongue as I reached for my pokeball.

"I wouldn't do that if I were you," The man stopped me, causing me to hesitate over my pokeball.

"Wouldn't want to be disqualified over a silly mistake like that would you, boy?" The woman huffed, pushing up her glasses with her pinky finger before shifting her stance. "One pokemon on the field, no matter the situation,"

"This is a new type of low..." I grumbled, stepping back with the flag in hand, Zorua's fur standing up as she growled at them.

"This could be my big break!" The woman snapped, her forehead throbbing in irritation "I've always wanted to be a pokemon trainer, you have no idea what it's like working a nine to five!"

"But with this new pokemon drifter thing, we can actually be put on the map here!" The guy continued, finishing her sentence.

"You have your whole life ahead of you, you don't need that flag, kid!" The woman stepped forward, her high heels clicking against the floor until she's right in front of me, her hand stretched out as if offering, an easy way out of this competition. "Hand it over,"

I paused, my grip around the flag slackened before gripping with a new resolve. "You're wrong..."

She looked taken aback by my statement, her hand snapped for the flag, only to grab nothing but air as I pulled it away.

"I need this flag more than anyone!" I turned my other hand into a fist, thrusting it in their direction as I gave my next command.

"Zorua! Use dark pulse!" Without a moment's hesitation Zorua shot a sphere of darkness straight at them once more. The ball covered the wide hallway in smoke.

"that little-" The man grunted between coughs, by the time the smoke cleared the two of us were already gone.

"Raichu! tailwhip!" The woman announced, the Raichu turning around and fanning the smoke a wag of its tail. The smoke soon dispersed but we were long gone.

"Just great!" The burly man ran ahead, the office woman soon following until there was fork in the road.

"For the love of...which way did he go?!" She hissed.

"I'll go down this way, you go the other!" The man announced, running to the left while she ran to the right. She panted as she made her way down the hall, her arms swung wantonly all the while until she finally came across me.

I was stuck at a dead end.

"finally got you..." she panted, straightening herself and her skirt in one smooth motion. "you've got nowhere to run, so hand over the flag!"

"No idea what you're on about, I don't have a flag." I raise both arms with a shit eating grin plastered on my face, the woman's eyes widened in horror at the sight of it.

"there's no rules saying you can't entrust the flag to your pokemon, so i'm useless to you right now!"

On the opposite end of the ship Zorua ran with the flag, illusioned as me. close behind her the burly man started to creep up.

"Rhyperior, rock throw!" He roared, the pokemon sending condensed forms of rock flying straight for my pokemon. Zorua struck a left to the nearest stairs leading to the deck, the rocks hitting the walls with a dull thud.

"god damn it!" The man cursed, watching as Zorua's hand grab at the stair railing and climb up to the top.

he wasted no time to follow suit, reaching the top. The sun glared in his eyes as he searched though Zorua was nowhere in sight...

To him he's just looking at a normal cruise, all of the people who aren't contending, gathered there having a good time under the bright blue sky and the ocean scented air.

"wha-...you can't be- Bah screw this!" without even trying he gave up, stomping down the stairs, grumbling something under his voice. "I can't be bothered with this trainer crap!"

In the party, a little girl watched as he left, holding the hand of a woman who held a wine glass and chatted with her friends.

"hm?" She chimed, looking down at the little girl with a confused look, noticing a red flag in her hand. "Can I help you little girl?"
