Isra rode quickly. Her body was filthy, and she was tired, but she neglected all that for Edward. Charging through the Commonwealth, she arrived back in the Empire in less than a week, and in just over it, she arrived back at the Palace. Her breathing was heavy, and under her eyes were black bags, showing how little she slept.
Walking through the gates, she looked at the Palace and ran towards it. Throwing open the doors, she charged up the steps to Edwards' room. The servants looked her way in confusion, wondering when Isra had returned. Isra didn't care about the looks she was getting and stopped just outside Edward's room.
Her hand shook as it hovered over the door handle, and from inside she could hear quiet murmuring. Taking a deep breath, she gently opened the door. Abu quickly turned and stood up, but seeing Isra immediately sat back down. On the other side of the room, Gaia's sister was quietly reading to Edward as the boy sat motionless in the middle of the room.
