Although the hospital food was not bad and was rather healthy with the right amount of nutrients needed for her recovery, but be it in appearance it in quality, it could not compare to the food she's always had at home. Restraining her emotions, she forces herself to continue swallowing down the food.
After the round check by the nurse, she closes her jotter and wishes Lilith a happy meal time before turning around and walking away. But Lilith slowly drops down her spoon and stares at her back. before enquiring.
"Is there a mirror in the bathroom ?"
The nurse halts in her steps and turns around starring at Lilith's face which was partly disfigured and not knowing and not knowing if she was ready to face tried to dissuade her.
"Have you seriously thought about this miss?"
Lilith smiles at her then nods.
"You know you might not look the same as before!" she tries persuaded her in a soft tone.
"Hnn!" Lilith scoffs in her mind.
'Might not look the same as before!, was she placating a little child?,' ' Who would still look the same as before after being disfigured?'.
She quickly cast her thoughts aside and smiles at the nurse again.
"mmm!"
The lady seemed to be put in a tight spot and hesitates a little then sighs before walking back to Lilith and removing the needle from her hand. Even at that, she still tried to persuade her calmly.
"You don't have to stare too long at it. And if you have any problem, am right outside the door. She fixed the needle to the drop and steps aside allowing space for Lilith to step down from the bed and drag get feet's towards the bathroom.
She stood in front of the door and places her hand on the handle and pushesit open slowly then walks into it. She glances about the room and when she spots the mirror hanging on the wall, she walks slowly over to it. Standing in front of it, she closes her eyes and slowly opens them to stare straight at her own face. The first few seconds, she remained motionless her gaze fixed on the image before her, and then a gasp broke out from her lips, her body shuddered and tears firmed in her eyes. She clutches her face tightly and sobs then runs her fingers alo g the injured part.
After a while, she reins down her emotions and sniffles then wipes her tears with the back of her her hand and cleans it on her dress. After forcing back the tears, she stares at herself for a while then mutters.
"It's not that bad!, I won't die?". She blinks her eyes and caresses her face again before sighing and taking in a breath.
"You have to grow strong and stop being a cry baby!, Grandpa's gone and can no longer take care of you!". She pats her cheek softly then counts one two three before turning around and heading out if the washroom.
When the door opens, the nurse sighs in relief when she sees that everything is fine and steps aside allowing Lilith to walk out of the bathroom and into the room. She follows and then goes over to fix the drip while Lilith walks towards the table and picks up the Nylon bag that Zheng Yangtian had stopped by earlier on before walking back to the bed. She looks at the tray of miserable food on the bed and didn't have any appetite for it. She removes the tray from the bed and places it on the table then climbs back on the bed and opens the Nylon bag. Glancing inside, she sees a box of cosmetics and raises her eyebrows at it. Curious, she picks out the box and reads the label only to discover that it was some sort of ointment that was meant to clear or remove scars.
She stares at the box in her hand silently as sniffles escaped her lips. she opens the box inside laid a small cylindrical bottle. Taking it out, she unseals it and a very mild and pure fragrance seeps out of the bottle and into her nostril. She sniffs in the scent a d immediately seals back the bottle and places it back in it's pack. She had to admit that it had a very nice scent and would make a person very comfortable to use it. Looking bat the little box in her hand, No one knew what thoughts passed through her mind as she quietly placed it back in the bag and puts the bag away.
When the nurse felt that she was okay, she then went forward and connected the needle back in her hand and she laid back on the bed.
As from that moment, Lilith became very cooperative and took a her medications without throwing any tantrum. She was just like an empty shell dressed in a hospital gown and laying in the bed. When it was time, she would obediently eat the unpalatable food or rather force it down her throat and then allow herself to be dripped. After some days, she was finally put off from dripping and began to take peels.
At the end of the week, she was due to leave the hospital. On that day, she sat alone I'm the hospital ward whole the paperwork was carried out. Just like Zheng Yangtian had promised, she didn't have to worry about the hospital bills as he had helped deal with it. But since after that day she woke up, he had never visited again. Truth was that no one else came after that accept for Zheng Mengyi who had come to mock and annoy her. And that too added to her melancholy.
She bit her lips as she sat on the bed and after what seem like forever, the door was opened and in came the lady nurse who had somehow become more of a family member to her.
"Nurse Xia!" she utters as she looks up and the nurse walks towards her holding a bag in her hand.
"Everything is done now Miss Lilith, you can change into this clothes now!". Lilith thanks her and takes the bag from her before entering the washroom and closing the door.
