Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Chicken Blood Vine

Once Jiang Lin's body had recovered completely, he couldn't help but ask excitedly, "How do you have the antidote?"

"I don't know if this is the real antidote, nor do I know if the Poison Gu worm is still alive in your body, or if it's simply in temporary dormancy."

"You mean... it's not dead, and it's still in my body, possibly waking up at any time?"

Jiang Lin's face turned pale, and even his voice quivered.

Yu Xiaolian nodded, "I'm not sure."

"But this pill will surely suppress it and be beneficial to you."

Even though Yu Xiaolian trusted Jiang Lin, she couldn't help but worry. After all, under absolute interests, even the closest people might betray you.

"Rest assured, if you notice any redness on your body, come find me, and I'll make more pills for you."

Jiang Lin stared at Yu Xiaolian as though he had never known her.

If he hadn't personally taken Yu Xiaolian to the grave of the Grass Demon Woman, he would have almost thought Yu Xiaolian had put the Gu in him, just to control him for her own use.

Seeing Jiang Lin looking more pained than death itself, Yu Xiaolian consoled, "You don't have to worry too much; maybe this one pill will cure you completely!"

"I understand what you mean, but if you want me to listen to you, you must tell me, how did you get the antidote?"

If Yu Xiaolian couldn't be open and honest, then he wouldn't mind letting the Pan Family people go to that Grass Demon Woman's grave to find out the truth.

Yu Xiaolian thought for a moment, then helplessly took off a beauty lens from one eye.

Jiang Lin was stunned, seeing Yu Xiaolian's gray pupil.

"You... you're from the Witch Clan, aren't you?"

Yu Xiaolian didn't bother disinfecting the lens before putting it back in, "I'll explain to you later; I guess the Pan Family will soon be here. I'm leaving now."

Jiang Lin looked at Yu Xiaolian, his face full of determination, "Don't worry, I won't betray you!"

Before leaving, Yu Xiaolian leaned closer to Jiang Lin's ear and whispered something. Seeing Jiang Lin nod in agreement, she then left the Jiang family.

As soon as Yu Xiaolian stepped out of the Jiang family's courtyard gate, she ran into Jiang the Hunter, who was just returning. She smiled and was about to greet Jiang the Hunter when he said, "Could it be that your dad sent you to return the money again?"

Yu Xiaolian giggled, "No, Uncle Jiang, I just have something to discuss with Brother Jiang Lin."

Jiang the Hunter said, "That's good. Wait a bit, I'll get a wild chicken for you to take back and nourish your dad."

Yu Xiaolian waved her hand, "Uncle Jiang, there's no need. If I take it back, my dad will break my leg. I can't risk it."

Jiang Lin also came out, "Dad, I'll go to Uncle Yu's house tomorrow to deliver it."

Yu Xiaolian waved to Jiang Lin, "Well... I'll go to town tomorrow morning, and when I come back, I'll visit you again."

Jiang the Hunter looked at Jiang Lin, "You've been hiding in your room the past few days; how come you're out today?"

Jiang Lin chuckled, "Isn't it because Xiaolian came to find me to play!"

Jiang the Hunter glared at his son, "You're already eighteen, and Xiaolian is just a little girl; you better not have any designs on a kid."

"No, not at all, what are you thinking? In our village, no one usually pays attention to her, I just feel sorry for her, definitely no other intentions."

Seeing Jiang Lin's strong denial, Jiang the Hunter felt he was overthinking.

Yu Xiaolian had just walked a bit further when she saw Zhao Kuo leading a few strong men into the village.

Those strong men moved in the direction of the Jiang family under Zhao Kuo's guidance, but Zhao Kuo didn't follow them; instead, he headed towards his own house.

Presumably, he was afraid of getting involved since doing such things is never honorable.

Yu Xiaolian deliberately slowed down her pace until Zhao Kuo caught up with her with big strides.

"Isn't this Xiaolian? Why are you still wandering outside? Could it be you've been staying this long at the Jiang family?"

Zhao Kuo put on a kindly smile, "I didn't expect you and Jiang Lin to be quite close. By the way, what's wrong with Jiang Lin's face?"

"Jiang Lin? There's nothing wrong with his face, it's perfectly fine!"

Zhao Kuo's expression changed, "Why are you lying? I clearly saw his face all red on one side, and you're saying no? Did he ask you to cover it up for him?"

"Oh, Uncle Zhao is talking about when you went to set the wild rabbit, right? At that time, he deliberately used the Chicken Blood Vine to smear his face red, pretending to be a ghost to scare me. Brother Jiang Lin is so naughty."

Yu Xiaolian spoke while watching Zhao Kuo's facial expression, which was constantly changing, until he finally expressed angrily, "You kids are truly making a fuss over nothing!"

"Uncle Zhao, Brother Jiang Lin scared me, and I'm not mad; why are you upset?"

Zhao Kuo noticed his own excessive anger and softened his tone, "Ah, I'm just mad at Jiang Lin for being too much. You should go home first. Speaking of wild rabbits, I still need to go to the Jiang family to take one."

"Uncle Jiang has already delivered the wild rabbit to your house!"

"Ah, then I'll go pay for the rabbit."

"The money for the rabbit has already been paid by my aunt!"

Yu Xiaolian's lips carried a hint of a smile, mocking the Pan Family bullies. Let's see how you handle this!

Zhao Kuo waved a hand, "Then I'll buy a wild chicken and have your dad over for dinner at my house. You should hurry home."

Zhao Kuo hurried to the Jiang family, where the strong men, for unknown reasons, had already gotten into a brawl with the Jiang father and son.

Zhao Kuo saw this and hurriedly stepped forward to break the fight, "What's going on? What's going on here?"

The strong men from the Pan family, seeing Zhao Kuo arrive, were even angrier, and one of them punched Zhao Kuo in the chin, "Are you messing with us? Don't think that just because you can say a few words in front of the young master, I won't dare hit you!"

Zhao Kuo was hit and cried out in pain, "It's all a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding, brothers, stop, stop!"

Zhao Kuo's plea for mercy didn't make the strong men of the Pan family stop. Only after hitting him several more times, leaving him bruised and swollen, did they feel relieved.

"For you to be a head constable is really an overstatement. A kid plays with Chicken Blood Vine, and you get jittery. Pathetic thing!"

The person kicked Zhao Kuo, who was hunched over, before speaking to Jiang the Hunter, "You two have good skills. Are you interested in working with Mr. Tong? He can make sure you eat well and drink well, much better than being a hunter."

Jiang the Hunter replied unyieldingly, "We live off the mountains, hunting for a living. Thank you for Mr. Tong's offer, as long as Mr. Tong doesn't mind my son's recent recklessness."

When Mr. Tong first arrived, he immediately had someone tear off Jiang Lin's clothes to check him.

Jiang Lin was always proud and was the leader among the village children; he wouldn't stand for this humiliation and tripped the person trying to undress him with a leg.

Immediately, he got into a fight with them. Jiang the Hunter, afraid his son would suffer, naturally joined in, but knowing they were from the Pan family, he didn't dare use deadly force. He always shielded his son and focused on defense.

This was also why Mr. Tong didn't blame Jiang the Hunter but instead extended an invitation to him.

Mr. Tong thought it was a pity; if Jiang the Hunter used all his might, none of them would be his match.

Given that they didn't know Jiang the Hunter's true background, he didn't want another Martial Arts master as an enemy.

After a few polite exchanges with Jiang the Hunter, Mr. Tong led his men away from the Jiang family.
