When Arabella calmed down, she finally asked questions. "How long have you been watching me?"
"Since you were picking flowers," Ferdinand said, and Arabella was wide-eyed as she realized he had been watching her for a while.
"Why didn't you call my attention?" Arabella blinked twice.
"You seemed so focused on what you were doing, so I didn't disturb you," Ferdinand clarified before she concluded he was intentionally spying on her as if he was suspicious of her activities, even after assigning Rendell, someone he trusted, as her guard.
Further, he couldn't possibly tell her he was mesmerized by how pretty she looked, even when she had a mysteriously melancholic look in her eyes at the time. And back then, he did not know yet that she was mourning for the dead.
"I see. I'm sorry, I didn't notice you. I should have felt your presence," Arabella apologized.
