People say be careful what you wish for.
I never really understood that phrase—until it happened to me.
I was resting. Sitting on the porch. Coffee in hand. The afternoon sun doing what it always does. Nothing special. Just a passing thought drifting through my head.
Wouldn't it be nice if I had a power of my own?
Not to rule the world.
Not to be a hero.
Just… something useful. Something convenient.
And then—
the planet started talking about invader, dungeon and all that crap.
Reality cracked open like it was bored of pretending to be normal.
The strange part?
I got exactly what I wanted.
And I've never felt more empty.
The email arrived while my coffee was still warm.
📩 New Email
I frowned and opened it.

I stared at the screen.
That was it.
No voice.
No dramatic announcement.
No power surging through my veins.
Just… email from someone.
It didn't feel like I'd been chosen by fate.
It felt like I'd been scammed.
I sighed.
In the manga and novels I read, awakening meant something.
Maybe some halo light or a transformation so intense your clothes barely survived it. At the very least, a narrator screaming your skill name like it mattered.
I rubbed my face and took another sip of coffee.
And who the hell use email this day?
On the bright side—
telekinesis.

Before I let myself get carried away, I needed to be sure this wasn't a dream.
Because—come on—who just accepts that reality turns into fantasy in a single second? That doesn't happen. Not to normal people.
…Right?
I tried to laugh it off, but the thought stuck. And then something ugly and honest slipped out of me.
Nah. Fuck reality. I want fantasy.
The moment I thought it, I acted.
I focused on the boxes stacked against the wall—dusty, forgotten things—and pushed with my mind, half-expecting nothing to happen.
They lifted.
A sharp tingling spread through my body, like static under my skin. Not pain—more like the sensation you get when you're learning something new. Like the first time your fingers remember a guitar chord before your brain does.
My mind and body scrambling to synchronize around a skill that had never existed before.
I laughed. Loud.
"HAHAHAHA—holy shit."
The boxes trembled in the air, responding to my excitement. The feeling grew stronger, warmer, almost intoxicating.
Every lazy instinct I'd ever had suddenly felt justified, like my body had been waiting for this excuse all along.
So this is it, I thought.
Power didn't just give me control—it woke something up. Something that had been dormant.
I lowered the boxes slowly, heart racing.
"…Wait," I muttered to myself.
"Am I this kind of character?"
