Chapter 9 - Chapter 8: The Pharaoh

So the love interest is Marinette. We did a vote and she was picked. Sometimes the relationship might look different and might be more maybe less I'm not sure if I can do it correctly. something else the reason I didn't upload that much because I was sick for like two or three days and I also was trying to figure out what stories to focus on mainly because I'm trying to see which ones I should finish faster so I would have more time to work on others , I'm feeling much better but probably gonna take a little bit more time to write more stories. Also, I use some of the suggestions people gave me and I did put them in the story if anybody else has suggestions, you can leave them on the comments and thank you for reading this and have a good time.

The morning air in Paris was crisp, but my head was already starting to thrum with a dull ache. Even though I was getting better at "tuning" my radio dial, the city was just loud. It didn't help that my second wish the Wolf Miraculous wasn't just a physical power; it was a spiritual weight. Axel was quiet in my pocket, munching on a piece of dried jerky I'd swiped from the kitchen.

As I walked toward Collège Françoise Dupont, my Apex Instinct flared. It wasn't a danger tingle, more like a "heads up." I looked up just in time to see a helicopter roaring overhead. Hanging from a yo-yo string attached to the landing gear was Ladybug.

"Don't blink now, 'cause we are live from Paris!" Alya's voice rang out from a nearby sidewalk. She was holding her phone up, narrating for the Ladyblog. "Yo peeps, Alya here... Freak out! What you got here is no ordinary book, it's a tenth-grade history book!"

I watched as a heavy textbook tumbled from the sky, dropped by a clumsy Ladybug. Alya snatched it up, her eyes wide with the realization that the city's hero might be a student. I leaned against a nearby lamp post, watching the scene. My super-smell picked up the familiar scent of Marinette's bakery flour nearby.

Clumsy as ever, Marinette, I thought with a smirk.

Later that afternoon, after a boring lecture where I spent most of my time trying not to hear the janitor's heartbeat in the basement, I caught up with Alya and Marinette. They were heading to the Louvre for the Tutankhamun exhibit.

"Finn! Come on!" Alya waved me over. "I'm on a mission to find out who this history book belongs to. Only forty-two girls in the tenth grade could own this. I'm narrowing it down!"

"You really think a textbook is going to give away her identity?" I asked, falling into step beside them. My senses were already picking up a strange, ancient energy coming from the museum. It smelled like dry smell and something... darker.

"Yep," Alya grinned. "Because our school is the only one that uses that book! HA!"

We walked into the exhibition, and immediately, my Sixth Sense began to vibrate. It wasn't the usual white noise. It was a rhythmic pulse. I saw a young man, Jalil Kubdel, arguing with his father, the director. He was obsessed with a papyrus scroll, claiming it contained a spell to bring back Nefertiti.

"Get your head out of those scrolls and focus on the real world!" Mr. Kubdel barked.

I felt a surge of negative emotion from Jalil—frustration, grief, a desperate need to be seen. It was like a beacon for a hunter. "He's a prime target," I whispered to myself.

"What was that, Finn?" Marinette asked, looking at me curiously.

"Nothing. Just... the air feels cold in here," I replied, glancing toward the shadows. My Apex Instinct suddenly spiked a sharp, cold needle at the base of my skull. He's here.

A black butterfly fluttered through the vents, merging with Jalil's pendant. In a flash of dark light, Jalil vanished, replaced by a towering figure in Egyptian garb with a shifting face.

"Pharaoh, I am Hawk Moth," a voice boomed in the astral plane, one I could faintly hear thanks to my connection to the Wolf Miraculous.

"Thoth, give me time!" the Pharaoh roared. Golden bubbles erupted from his hands, trapping everyone in slow-motion fields.

"Alya, hide!" Marinette yelled. I grabbed Alya's arm, pulling her behind a stone sarcophagus just as a bubble sailed past us.

"Are you kidding? This is a scoop!" Alya hissed, her phone already out.

I looked at Marinette, who was ducking behind a statue. I knew she needed to transform. "Alya, stay here. I'm going to find a way out," I said, giving her a look that told her I wasn't joking.

I ducked into the shadows of the Egyptian wing. "Axel, call of the alpha!" I whispered.

The silver light of the Wolf Miraculous engulfed me. The sensory overload vanished, replaced by the razor-sharp focus of the hunter. I felt my claws extend and my vision switch to a thermal heat-map. I could see Ladybug already engaging the Pharaoh, and Cat Noir getting... thrown into a coffin?

"Typical," I muttered, leaping onto the rafters.

The Pharaoh was powerful. He changed faces Sekhmet for strength, Anubis for mummies. He snatched Alya, deciding she was the "pure soul" needed for his ritual to bring back Nefertiti.

"Ladybug, this is Alya! I just found out I'm the sacrificial offering!" her voice echoed through the museum.

I trailed them from the rooftops as Pharaoh headed for the Louvre pyramid. My Apex Instinct was screaming. The ritual was starting. A beam of light shot into the sky, and the darkness began to spread.

I landed silently on a ledge above the ritual site. Ladybug and Cat Noir were there, trying to fight through an army of mummies.

"Hey, mummies!" I yelled, dropping into the center of the mummy pack. I didn't have a weapon, but I didn't need one. I moved like a blur, my speed leaving trails of silver light. I tackled three mummies at once, the impact shattering their ancient body's.

"White Fang! Just in time!" Cat Noir shouted, vaulting over a mummy.

"Focus on the girl!" I barked. "I'll handle the crowd!"

I let out a low growl, an intimidation glare that made the mummies hesitate. It was a new trick Axel had mentioned—the "Alpha's Presence." It made their power falter for a split second.

Ladybug used her Lucky Charm—a Ladybug costume. She tricked the Pharaoh into thinking she would sacrifice herself. She was brilliant.

"Gotcha!" Ladybug cried, breaking the pendant.

"Miraculous Ladybug!"

The swirl of magical energy restored the museum and turned the Pharaoh back into Jalil. I stayed in the shadows as Ladybug and Alya talked.

"How old are you, really?" Alya asked.

"Much older than a high school student, that's for sure!" Ladybug laughed, swinging away.

I waited until they were gone before detransforming in an alleyway. My heart was still racing.

Later that evening, back at the school, Alya was still obsessing over the Ladyblog. Marinette was giggling to herself, her secret safe. I sat near them, leaning back in my chair.

"I still don't get it," Alya mused. "Ladybug is 5,000 years old, but she carries a tenth-grade history book?"

"Maybe she's just a really good student," I joked, catching Marinette's eye. She blushed and looked away.

That night, standing on my balcony overlooking the city, Axel floated next to me.

"You're thinking about her," Axel teased.

"Yeah, she sure is impressive"
