Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: We're Getting Divorced!

Early summer.

10:40 at night.

The Capital City, and it's raining lightly again.

Ruby Mercer stretches her hand out the window, feeling the rain hitting her palm, and suddenly remembers a saying:

Some wait for rain, some blame the urgency of the rain, some wait for umbrellas, some wait for the rain to stop...

And as for her, she foolishly waits in an empty home for Alvin Hargreaves to return!

Even if she could wait for him just once, it would be worth it!

Then she wouldn't feel that the three years of marriage she's endured was unfair!

Turning back, looking at the table full of dishes, she smiles bitterly.

Then, she dials out on her phone.

The phone rang for a long time before it was answered impatiently on the other side.

"Have you thought it through and want a divorce?"

The word "divorce" explodes in Ruby Mercer's mind, making her feel groggy, "I..."

The man's cold, mocking voice reaches her, "If it's not divorce, then I'll hang up first, I'm busy here!"

Ruby hears the sarcasm in his voice, nervously swallowing, "Alvin, are you coming home tonight? I've made your favorite meal..."

Alvin Hargreaves interrupts coldly, "I'm sleeping at Anastasia's tonight. Also, don't call again!"

"Your voice disgusts me!"

"Hello, Mr. Moore, I'm Alvin Hargreaves, I've heard a lot about you!"

"Beep beep beep..."

The call was disconnected!

Ruby Mercer looks at the hung-up phone, her lips curling slightly, then "bang," the phone in her hand is smashed onto the dining table and slides to the floor.

"Scumbag!"

Then the mop beside her is thrown out as well.

"To hell with your gratitude!"

The plates on the dining table crash to the ground, instantly creating chaos everywhere!

"To hell with your virtue and grace!"

The next second, the small stool by the sofa is kicked to the side by her, falling into the mess.

At this moment, Ruby Mercer feels not anger or discomfort but rather a sense of relief all over.

"Alvin Hargreaves, you're so blatant, aren't you? Let's see who gets around more!"

Not long after, she emerges from her room finely dressed, takes a last look at the mess on the floor, picks up the phone from the ground, and heads out the door.

"Tonight, I'm not coming home!"

Half an hour later, a red Mercedes stops in front of a high-end venue, Ruby Mercer alights from the car.

She left home brimming with boldness and audacity.

Entering the venue, she suddenly starts to feel timid.

She can't just turn her tail; she can't make herself similar to Alvin Hargreaves.

"Ah!"

"Since I'm here!"

Might as well enjoy the top-notch service here!

Luxurious Suite 1808.

A pretty waitress follows in to serve, "Miss, what service do you need?"

Ruby Mercer surveys the suite surroundings and takes another breath.

"Get three or four companions, tall and strong, serve the fruit and snacks!"

The waitress exits the suite with a courteous smile.

Having seen many youthful and bashful yet hearty and wild ones, she knows how to serve well.

As Ruby Mercer hesitates whether to pay the bill and leave straight away, a knock on the door is heard.

Four young, tall, and handsome men enter.

After a brief introduction, the five sit down.

Clearly, Ruby Mercer is more nervous than any of them!

The four men leisurely chat with Ruby Mercer, cautious not to say anything inappropriate due to not understanding her style or preferences.

Yet, they think: since she dared to ask for four, she carries something extraordinary!

So, one of the more flamboyant men puts his arm around Ruby's shoulder, "I'm twenty-seven this year, should I call you sister, or little sister?"

Ruby Mercer glances at the hand on her shoulder, her body starting to tense, "I... I'm twenty-four!"

The man gives a gentle smile, his large hand discreetly moving from her shoulder to her waist, "Then you're little sister!"

Ruby Mercer feels the hand on her waist, her brow furrowing.

Endure it!

Ruby Mercer, you're here to consume!

You're here to enjoy!

Don't be so tense, relax!

"Ruby, don't be nervous, try some fruit!"

Another man sits on Ruby Mercer's other side, offering a grape to her mouth.

"Okay..."

Ruby Mercer tightly tenses up, her heart almost leaping from her throat.

When the man's initially proper hand on her waist moves to her thigh, Ruby Mercer can no longer hold it in!

"Sorry, I need to use the restroom!"

She flees in panic!

Where the man touched her, heat radiates, making her entirely uncomfortable.

"Pathetic!"

"Just being touched by a man and becoming so scared!"

She rubs her burning face and strides quickly towards the restroom.

There, a name from the suite on her left catches her attention.

A woman, "Alvin, come, drink!"

Ruby Mercer's eyes flash.

Alvin?

Is it Alvin Hargreaves?

She peeks inside the half-open door, and indeed, who else but Alvin Hargreaves is sitting next to the main seat?

Alvin Hargreaves teasingly holds the woman's waist.

"Have some manners, Mr. Moore is here, why are you toasting me?"

He says, pleasingly looking toward the man on the main seat.

"Go, have a drink with Mr. Moore!"

The "snap" sound echoes in the suite, causing embarrassment and awkwardness.

The woman shyly reddens, scolding Alvin Hargreaves, "Scumbag!"

"You're so bad!"

Alvin Hargreaves jokes, "I'll be worse later!"

Outside the suite, Ruby Mercer's face turns pale instantly.

Her hands hanging by her sides, fingernails digging into her palms.

Ruby Mercer, this is the man you married and waited for three years!

Are you heartbroken yet?

Ruby Mercer, you're simply ridiculous!

At this moment, the woman known as "Anastasia" in the suite walks toward the man at the main seat.

"Mr. Moore, Anastasia offers you a drink!"

The man respectfully called "Mr. Moore" takes the drink with a sullen, esteemed demeanor.

In the shadows, Alvin Hargreaves watches the wine glass, calculating glints flickering in his eyes.

Ruby Mercer, full of irony, leaves!

She always knew Alvin Hargreaves was very busy, even imagined what he was busy with.

Flirting among women, leaving traces everywhere. Or partying deep into the night with a bunch of rich young men, in bars, nightclubs, KTVs...

Tonight, she finally witnesses it firsthand!

In the restroom, she splashes water on her face.

The image of Alvin Hargreaves teasing that woman lingers in her mind, her hands on the sink, she sneers.

Raising her head, in the mirror is a refined, beautiful face.

Delicate features, elegant makeup, tall stature, perfect form.

Yet, the Mercer Family's little princess need not be so humble, even if lacking favor!

Fingertips touching the mirror, Ruby Mercer is already in tears, "I'm sorry, sister..."

"I can't hold on anymore!"

Wiping her tears, Ruby Mercer dials a number, "Alvin Hargreaves, as you wish!"

"We're getting a divorce!"
