Rienn was surprised to here this. The Oxen had died out. There weren't many left of them. Or at least that is how it had seemed.
The truth, however, was quite different.
It was a mixture of circumstance along with Serac's own efforts. Most of the pure blooded members of the Oxen race had died in the Ancient War. They few that were left were designated as breeders for Elysium. The ones that were known were monitored and required to fill a quota of inseminations for the Dragon Race.
It was very much a fate that could have happened to Rune had things been different.
There was no way to tell the difference between a member of an Oxen Race and a regular human unless one was capable of reading souls. Needless to say, this was not a common ability. So Elysium could only make use of the ones that were known.
