Just like Miriam, Rune's world was spinning. He had no idea which was was up or down as he sailed through the air, and the violent way in which is body bounced left him in agony.
Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, his suffering did not last long. Something vital in his neck was sliced by a sharp shard of glass, and Rune began to choke on his own blood. His face smashed into something else on the next impact and pulverized his eye. Rune barely had enough time to scream before another impact shattered his nano armor and slammed his temple against a hard surface. That final hit knocked Rune out cold as his limp body slammed into a distant pillar of glass.
Through it all, Rune had refused to let go of Miriam's body, using his own to shield her from further harm. Even now, slumped up against the pillar as he was, his unconcious figure still held fast to her--a tetstament to his will.
"Rune!!!"
