The priest system is not actually complicated; it just divides the strength of Transcendents according to their Merit Points. The more tasks, the harder they are, the higher the Merit, and consequently, the higher the level of the Star Envoy.

There are rewards bestowed by the Source Tower, the possibility to reside in the Upper City, to regularly enter the Source Tower and enjoy resources, to listen to the divine sounds… eventually, to have one's own residence within the Source Tower.
Priests continuously poured in; they first stationed at the Frontier of Central Continent, maintaining law and order. Some people, lacking strength, no matter how hard they tried in their lifetime, could not squeeze into the Central Continent. As they grew older, they naturally lost motivation.
Some people are talented and outstanding enough to rapidly rise to the top.
