Chapter 948 - Chapter 947: Iron Man’s “Brainwashing” Plan

Natasha Romanoff shrugged.

"Maybe he didn't help willingly. Perhaps he was forced."

Erik Lehnsherr shook his head.

"Forcing Charles to do something against his will? Unless Apocalypse also possesses telepathy—and is even stronger than Charles in that field… honestly, I don't think that's very likely."

Tony Stark said casually,

"Well, we'll see. The quiz game will give us the answer."

After the question ended, the light screen began playing the correct-answer footage.

Onscreen, Charles Xavier arrived at the CIA with Alex Summers. As one of America's largest intelligence agencies, the place was naturally off-limits to ordinary people.

Yet with Charles rolling forward in his wheelchair, not a single person stopped them. Everyone they passed didn't even spare them a proper glance.

From their conversation, it was clear that Charles had come to see the female agent Moira to find out what had happened in Egypt.

Alex was curious about the story between Charles and Moira, but Charles had no intention of elaborating. He only mentioned that over all these years, he had secretly peered into her mind twice—no more than that.

When they entered Moira's office, the staff who had been busily working inside suddenly froze, as if hit by a mass paralysis spell. No one moved. The entire office looked as though someone had pressed the pause button on time itself.

Seeing this, Homelander's eyes widened outside the screen.

"Shit! Through telepathy, he can do this?"

In the earlier introduction videos, Homelander had only seen Professor communicate over long distances, subtly influence thoughts, or erase memories.

He hadn't thought it was anything special.

But now—this scene made him feel as though time itself had stopped. Was this really something telepathy could do?

Erik Lehnsherr let out a disdainful snort at Homelander's shock.

"Did you know? Someone as mentally unstable as you—if you ever ran into Charles, he'd only need to move a finger to turn you into a real idiot."

Tony Stark suddenly rubbed his chin, inspiration striking.

"Hey… I just thought of something. Do you think Charles could fix Homelander's way of thinking? Turn him into a real Superman—like Clark?"

"You want to brainwash me?" Homelander's face darkened as he roared angrily.

"Bastards! How is that any different from killing me outright?!"

"Killing involves blood," Tony replied calmly.

"'Brainwashing' just sounds bad. We'd call it treatment for severe mental illness."

He shrugged.

"In the old days, they treated mental patients by surgically removing parts of the frontal lobe. Compared to that, Charles is practically gentle. I don't think he'd actually turn you into a vegetable."

The more Tony thought about it, the more feasible the idea seemed.

Most superheroes in the Multiverse defenders upheld a strict no-killing principle.

Especially after the quiz game exposed dark futures—or alternate realities—where heroes like Wanda, Bruce, Superman, and even Stephen Strange fell into corruption, they had become even more cautious.

If killing could be avoided, it should be avoided.

That was why people like Homelander, A-Train, and Storm were imprisoned rather than executed.

And frankly, the Multiverse defenders had a headache figuring out what to do with them.

They couldn't release them.

They couldn't kill them.

They had to feed them, house them, and look at them every day.

Now, Tony Stark suddenly had an idea—bring in Charles Xavier, the ultimate telepath, to "brainwash" them.

Well—reform them. Psychological treatment and ideological rehabilitation.

"Homelander, our original plan was to strip you of your powers and then send you to a normal prison to face legal judgment," Tony said patiently.

"But if you're willing to undergo Charles's mental treatment, you can keep your powers."

Wasting Homelander's abilities would be a shame. Reprogram him and put him to work—much better efficiency.

Natasha Romanoff nodded repeatedly.

"I think it's a great idea. If the Multiverse defenders really plans to intervene in multiversal affairs, we'll be desperate for manpower. Why not give these villains a chance to start over?

Let them atone for their past crimes—and contribute to the light and hope of the multiverse."

Listening to the two of them sing in harmony, Homelander was nearly driven insane with rage.

"Shut up! I'd rather die than be brainwashed into becoming someone else!"

Just imagining the future they described filled him with fury.

After a moment, he added bitterly,

"Just wait. When I win this game, I'll make you all pay."

Natasha Romanoff shook her head calmly.

"No. You won't."

While they were arguing, the footage on the light screen continued.

Charles Xavier and Alex met with Moira. She was initially suspicious, but was soon mentally guided by Professor X, accepted their presence, and handed over all the intelligence she had gathered over the years about En Sabah Nur.

Moira had begun investigating En Sabah Nur long ago—or rather, his followers.

During that time, she uncovered a great deal of information. The first mutant in human history might not be merely a relic from three thousand years ago—he might have existed tens of thousands of years earlier.

He possessed near-immortality. Whenever his body aged, he could perform a rebirth ritual, transferring his consciousness—or soul—into a younger, more vigorous host.

Through countless rebirths, En Sabah Nur had accumulated an unimaginable number of mutant abilities. No one could say how many powers he truly possessed.

Moreover, wherever Apocalypse appeared, he was always accompanied by four guardians—the Four Horsemen of Apocalypse.

They followed him across civilizations, thousands or even tens of thousands of years ago.

And almost every time they appeared, what they left behind was catastrophe and devastation.

"The end of the world…"

Charles Xavier murmured thoughtfully.

The three of them then returned to the academy—only to unexpectedly encounter Raven Darkhölme.

Professor X was genuinely delighted. He asked Hank, Moira, and Alex to step aside, wanting to catch up with an old friend—perhaps even a little sister.

"Raven, I'm truly happy to see you," Charles Xavier said sincerely.

"Welcome home."
