Chapter 768 - Chapter 767: The Rescue Operation

After installing the Super Principal System, Charles found that his mind now operated like a radar. A full 3D map of the entire mansion and its surroundings unfolded clearly before him.

What's more, he could see clusters of glowing dots, each flashing in different colors, making it easy to categorize them.

Hank, Raven, and other mutants were marked as green dots. Outside the mansion, however, there were several red or yellow dots.

There was no doubt about it—green indicated friendliness, while red and yellow represented threats or hostility. Those were the agents officially assigned to keep watch.

Of course, with Charles' formidable telepathic powers, he could already construct illusions around the school to shield it from outside detection. But there were always gaps—nothing he could fully rely on.

Now things were different. With the system's support, Charles could finally start his teaching career with peace of mind.

His thoughts drifted back to the future video he'd seen, to the desperate search by Laura and the group of mutant children for the so-called Eden. The memory felt like a needle pricking his heart. He murmured, "Eden might exist now… but those kids…"

Suddenly, a bold idea struck him. If the future timeline was treated as a parallel universe, then—could he travel there? Could he rescue Laura and those unfortunate mutant kids?

Uncertain about the details, he immediately pulled Hank aside to ask.

At first, Hank reacted with disbelief. "You can't be serious."

Time and space theory was a massive subject. You couldn't just treat the future as another timeline or a parallel universe so casually.

But Charles had his own reasoning: "Logan's the perfect example, isn't he? He came from an alternate timeline."

That made Hank pause. Traditional physics really couldn't explain the mess caused by the Quiz game. In the end, all he could do was shrug and admit he had no answers.

But the more Charles thought about it, the more convinced he became that it could work. Raven and the others agreed as well. They'd all seen the future scenarios revealed in the Quiz game and shared his deep sympathy for Laura and those children.

"To save them, we'll need help from the Multiverse Defenders. They're the only ones who can break through the barriers between time and space, between different worlds."

Besides this sudden rescue mission, there were other areas where Charles needed the Multiverse Defenders's help. So he reached out to Bruce Banner, only to learn that they were swamped and might need a while before they could come get him.

Bruce wasn't making excuses—things at the multiverse defenders's headquarters really were hectic. The last Quiz game had dropped some heavy future intel.

First was the issue of Wanda's dark turn, which had drawn a lot of attention.

But the most urgent matter on their hands was an imminent rescue mission.

Doctor Strange, Pietro, and the youngest Spider-Man had all lost in the game and were punished accordingly. Each was sent to a different mission world, cut off from all outside contact.

While Pietro and Strange were experienced adults with powers, Peter was still just a kid—not long out of elementary school—and hadn't even awakened his Spider-Man abilities yet. Alone in an unfamiliar, potentially dangerous world, it was no wonder everyone were worried.

Aunt May immediately turned to Tony Stark for help. Since Peter's identity as Spider-Man had been exposed in an earlier Quiz game, both the Avengers and S.H.I.E.L.D. had secretly maintained close ties with his family, helping them lead peaceful, normal lives.

Worth noting—May and Tony actually had a pretty good relationship.

Tony, arguably the Avenger who cared most about Peter, rushed to the Multiverse Defenders headquarters with May in tow. There, they found a few heroes on duty and began discussing a rescue strategy.

Bruce Banner, tasked with guarding the dimensional portal and known for his calm temperament, had basically become the de facto gatekeeper—like Heimdall from Asgard.

Since the rescue operation involved other universes, Bruce was essential. Joining them was Spider-Man #1 (Tobey's version), whose universe served as the Multiverse Defenders's HQ. He arrived first, ready to help.

"May, don't worry—we will bring Peter back. I promise you that," Tony said, doing his best to calm the anxious Aunt May. Then, turning to Spider-Man #1, he added, "And I don't mean you. You get it, right?"

Tobey's Peter chuckled and gave a quick hand gesture. "I get it. Uh… to make things easier, maybe just call me One. Less confusing that way."

"Fine, One," Tony said, now serious. "Any updates from your mission system?"

Previously, Spider-Man #1 had received several missions tied to rescuing other versions of Peter Parker across the multiverse—many related to the MCU Peter—so Tony guessed there might be another rescue mission in the system.

If that was the case, things would be a lot easier.

But One shook his head. "Nothing. I even used a few mission refresh tokens, but it's just stuff like stopping pickpockets... uh, New York's been pretty peaceful lately."

Tony tapped his forehead. "Guess we can't count on you, then. We'll have to figure out which world Peter ended up in ourselves. Bruce, got any bright ideas?"

Bruce shrugged. "The multiverse is huge—like, sand-on-the-beach huge. Blindly searching would be pointless… unless someone else has a way?

Oh, right, the other Spider-Man wants to help too. Let me think… he's Number Three. And Charles just sent a distress signal—he wants to talk."

Tony waved decisively. "Open the gate and bring them in. We'll figure out a plan together! By the way, Bruce—what about Clark and the others?"

Bruce thought for a moment. "Sounds like their world's in trouble. That legendary villain—Darkseid—is about to make a move on Earth. Bruce, Clark, and Diana all went back."

Tony's brow furrowed. "That bad? Do they need backup?"

Darkseid was on par with Thanos in terms of threat level. If he really launched an invasion, the Marvel heroes had both the obligation and the will to lend a hand to the DC side.

But priorities had to be set. If the situation over there was dire, they might have to postpone the rescue mission and focus on stopping Darkseid first.
