Though it was broad daylight, drawing the curtains made the room dim and unclear, only a sleep light was turned on, casting a darkness. Charles sat at the bedside, his dark eyes staring at the outstretched hand in front of him, without making a move.
There was a hint of awkwardness rising in the silent space.
Jack Hugh immediately stepped forward, his gentle voice slightly improving the frozen scene in front.
"Doctor Shear, let's first take a look at the person lying in bed." Jack turned on another light in the room to make it easier for diagnosis.
Rowan Shear withdrew her awkward hand.
