Chapter 6 - Next Stage Training

Day after day went by, without realizing 2 weeks had passed...

At the top of the snowy hill, a black-haired youth in a tattered yukata was running down the hill while avoiding all sorts of traps.

The youth was none other than Rio who was undergoing training.

There were many traps waiting for him as he descended the mountain, while running he tripped over a rope, and suddenly a large wooden block tied with a rope was about to hit him.

When the wooden block a few centimeters hit him, Rio ducked his head to avoid the log, there was not only one log, but seven!

With agile movements, he dodged all the logs and continued to run down the hill.

There wasn't just one trap, there were still many traps waiting for him, such as a net that would hang from a tree if he was late, a hole covered in dirt, and so on.

Rio didn't use while training, he was purely going up and down hills with his own power.

"Hahhh… Hahhh… Finally today's training is over…"

As soon as he reached the bottom of the hill, he who practiced from morning till dusk, he immediately lay down on the ground exhausted.

"Not bad, you improved a lot Rio."

Jigoro who had always supervised Rio's training from the first day until now praised this young man's perseverance.

Maybe because Rio had lost his emotions and feelings, he never complained at all and didn't question whether this exercise was useful or not.

Jigoro feels he will train a great disciple!

"Thanks for the compliment Jigoro sensei."

"Here, drink it, don't get dehydrated."

Jigoro threw the water bag at Rio.

Taking the shabby looking water bag, Rio immediately opened the drinking cap, he immediately drank all the water in one gulp.

"In the first week your body was covered in bruises and bruises from being caught in a trap, but look now, in just 2 weeks you can escape all those traps."

"I think it's time to move on to the next stage."

Jigoro felt his disciple's physique had met the requirements to practice swordsmanship.

"That means I don't have to go up and down hills anymore?" Rio asked rubbing his mouth with his arm.

"Yeah, but it's getting late, get some rest. Training will start tomorrow."

After saying that, Jigoro left Rio who was sitting on the ground.

"I've been in this world for 15 days, there are still 75 days before the end of the quest limit."

"Finally I will learn swordsmanship."

Rio can't wait for tomorrow.

For an otaku, to be able to master the moves in anime to the real world, that is one of the dreams of otaku.

"But the training to become a Demon Slayer is really tough…"

Lying on a pile of snow, Rio looked at the overcast clouds that covered the sun's rays.

"I don't know how the other players' conditions will be, which side they will choose."

"But I think most users will choose the Demon side." Rio muttered quite confidently.

Even though he doesn't watch the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime, that doesn't mean he doesn't know anything.

There were a lot of spoilers posted on Facebook when this anime aired, Rio as an active Facebook user, couldn't help but see the spoilers.

He knows being a Demon is not too difficult, humans only need to drink Demon blood, and that human will automatically become a Demon, of course it will become the lowest level Demon.

Compared to being a member of the Demon Slayer which requires hard training, determination, courage and unyielding attitude. Becoming a Demon was undoubtedly much easier.

"Moreover, humans in modern times are accustomed to instant life, instead of exercising to lose weight, people prefer liposuction to lose weight instantly."

"It's the same as that, I estimate 50% more players will choose the Demon side."

"But only if they are not killed by the Demons first."

"But this hard training is not without benefits..."

Rio opened his status screen.

Seeing his attribute points increase, if Rio could smile, he would have been grinning widely by now.

"Due to these 2 weeks of intense training, Vitality has increased by 5 points and Agility has increased by 3 points."

"It turns out that attribute points can be increased through training..."

Going up and down the snowy hills in winter wasn't easy, it was a huge mental and energy drain, but now Rio had no regrets doing such monotonous training.

"Unfortunately my attribute points have stopped accumulating, it seems that wanting to increase attributes by practicing has a limit..."

As the sun slowly sets, the winter temperatures get colder. Rio got up and headed for the old hut.

The next day...

Rio and Jigoro were standing in the courtyard of the old hut with wooden swords in each other's hands.

"Rio, since you have fully mastered Thunder Breathing, your next stage should be learning the sword techniques of Thunder Breathing."

Rio didn't say anything, he heard Jigoro's teaching.

"Thunder Breath has a total of 6 standard forms, with the first form being said to be the basis for all other forms."

"That's why you have to master the basics first before learning other forms."

"I will demonstrate the first form, listen carefully."

"Ready, Jigoro sensei." Rio replied increasing his concentration.

Jigoro put a wooden sword on his waist, he inhaled a large amount of oxygen into his lungs and exhaled carbon dioxide through his mouth.

He was previously an aged old man now emitting a terrifying aura and sparks of thunder shot out from his body.

"Ichi no kata: Hekireki Issen (First Form: Thunderclap and Flash)"

*Swoosh*

Jigoro drew a wooden sword, then his figure moved at a speed that couldn't be seen with the naked eye.

"What!"

Rio who was focused on observing Jigoro was surprised because his teacher's figure disappeared, when he responded, Jigoro was already near a pine tree which was 20 meters away from his current location.

*Cracks*

Under Rio's disbelieving gaze, the pine tree near Jigoro collapsed forward.

*BAMM*

The ground shook like a small earthquake from a fallen pine tree.

Jigoro walked back to Rio's location with a proud smile on his face.

"How? I'm strong, right?"

Rio nodded subconsciously.

"Ouch, my back."

Jigoro was just showing off in front of his disciples, suddenly felt his back go bad from using Thunder Breathing earlier.

"Hahhhh… I was much stronger in my youth than this, but look now, just using the first form is already like this."

Jigoro let out a long sigh lamenting his aging self.

"Did you see my movements earlier, Rio?"

"Sorry Jigoro sensei, because you were too fast, I couldn't see anything just now."

"That's natural, Thunder Breathing prioritizes speed. The death rate of members of the Demon Slayer Corps against demons is very high."

"Especially when the Demon Slayer Corps met the Twelve Demon Moons, but do you know which breathing style user has the highest survival percentage in the Demon Slayer Corps?"

Rio didn't have to think long to find out the answer to that question, his teacher's expression explained it all.

"Thunder Breathing." Rio said without hesitation.

"Ohou, why do you think so." Jigoro asked who rubbed his mustache.

"As Jigoro sensei mentioned earlier, the Thunder Breathing focuses on speed. The reason why users of this breathing style have the highest chance of survival among users of other breathing styles is because of its speed."

"If you can't defeat a Demon, a Thunder Breather only needs to run, with the speed of a Demon Breather, even a Demon will have a hard time catching up."

"Ha ha ha ha..."

Hearing Rio's answer, Jigoro burst out laughing.

"That's Rio's good answer, if you can't defeat a Demon, you just need to run, you don't have to risk your life against an impossible enemy."

"This is also why I was able to retire from the Demon Slayer Corps while many of my comrades died at a young age."

Jigoro really liked Rio's answer, for him life was the most important thing. It's not that he's afraid of death, but if he's fighting an enemy who doesn't stand a chance, why risk his life?

"Alright, I'll demonstrate until you can master the first form."

"Please help Jigoro sensei!"
