"Who was in a hurry? Wasn't she the one begging me to do it?"
Rachel Bow's eyes darted, uncomfortably stiffening her neck. Knowing she couldn't outargue Ava Kent, she simply tossed the spoon in her hand aside and turned back to the guest room.
"Miss Bow, aren't you having breakfast?" Mrs. Cooper worried about her health.
"No, I'm not eating!"
"But... How can you not eat breakfast after a hangover? It's bad for your health..."
"She'll come out when she's hungry."
Knowing no one would stand up for her, she remained defiant, unyielding.
...
In the blink of an eye, it was the weekend. Outside the Grand Prosper Hotel, Lucas White glanced at his wristwatch. Originally, he was supposed to pick up Ava Kent so they could come together, but Ava said Greenwood Island Garden was close to the hotel, and she could arrive on her own.
Seeing the time nearing seven o'clock without any sign of Ava, Lucas quickly gave her a call.
"Miss Kent, are you on your way?"
