Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Secret Realm Gate! Victory with a Precious Pet!

"What is that...?"

Lin Yue was originally gripping the Iron Spear, ready to take a shot at the approaching Mutant Sheep when something emerged after the strange noise from the forest, causing him to pause his actions.

The white light fog accompanied by an odd buzzing sound dispersed, and he saw a peculiar building suddenly appear in that place.

Lin Yue vaguely saw what seemed to be an old wooden door wrapped in dilapidated bricks and stones, surrounded by lingering white fog that refused to disperse.

He was very sure that this door absolutely did not belong to this Desert, as it never existed before.

Looking down at the Mutant Sheep, he discovered they seemed utterly indifferent to the Ancient Gate, and the nearest one was already within six to seven meters from the Shelter.

The other Mutant Sheep had also gotten much closer.

The Ancient Gate caught Lin Yue's attention, but he knew that even though he wanted to check it out, he had to first deal with these threats.

He gripped the Iron Spear firmly, pretending to keep looking in the direction of the Ancient Gate while waiting for the nearest one to come close enough.

And indeed, he did not have to wait too long.

The Mutant Sheep were so attracted to the sheep meat he threw down that with the closest one approaching further, Lin Yue knew the opportunity had arrived.

He suddenly turned and stood up, letting out a loud shout, and the Iron Spear in his hand transformed into a streak of silver light like a meteor!

"Gugugu!" A painful cry immediately followed!

The Iron Spear sliced through the soft belly of the Mutant Sheep, and the sharp spearhead instantly tore it open, followed by a gush of blood and the heavy viscera dropping to the ground.

The other Mutant Sheep paused for a second upon witnessing the sudden event, but as soon as an Iron Axe hurled in the air toward them, they quickly turned and fled into the distance!

The extremely dangerous situation for Lin Yue changed instantly as the four escaped.

Lin Yue gasped for air, wiping the sweat off his forehead with his hand.

Though unsure of how terrifying the fanged Mutant Sheep truly were, having been besieged by seven of these massive mutant creatures was not an experience he wished to repeat.

If he hadn't correctly climbed onto the rooftop initially and had shrunk back inside the house, who knows what would have happened later on?

Perhaps he would have been surrounded by these ferocious monsters until the snow disaster hit, leading to food exhaustion.

Standing on the rooftop, Lin Yue confirmed that the four Mutant Sheep had turned into four black dots in his sight again before climbing down the ladder and turning to enter the Shelter, intending to take out the spare Iron Spear for a quick strike on the two remaining heavily injured ones outside.

Suddenly, he heard a cracking sound coming from the direction of the table.

Lin Yue looked up and found the mutant creature's egg on the table had cracked open like parched land.

Crack, crack.

The cracking sound became more frequent, and the fissures widened.

Crack!

With a final crisp sound, the entire eggshell suddenly split in two!

"Puchi~"

Lin Yue heard a small chirping sound, and he simultaneously saw the white little creature slowly standing up in the center of the eggshell.

A pair of eyes as red as Rubies quietly stared at Lin Yue, its delicate scales covering its whole body shimmering silver-white, as if cloaked by snow.

"This...is a lizard, right?"

The Iron Spear's tip in Lin Yue's hand slowly dropped; the appearance of this little creature somehow touched something in his heart.

"It seems quite cute?"

Lin Yue walked over, taking out a slightly long piece of dry grass to tease it, the little creature playfully grasped at the end of the dry grass with its small paws, and the big eyes still fixated on Lin Yue's face.

"Including the tail, it's about 18 centimeters long." Lin Yue estimated based on experience, quickly coming up with an accurate measurement.

"Puchi?" The little creature tilted its head, seeming to understand something, chirping again.

Such a large egg, yet only a small lizard hatched from it?

Lin Yue had expected to hatch a mutant creature as fierce as the Mutant Sheep outside.

"So, should I transform it into a Treasure Chest, or..."

Just at this moment, a game panel suddenly appeared before Lin Yue.

[Congratulations, you have acquired a new pet. Would you like to name it?]

Pet? hhhhc.

This game system, what the hell, a pet?

I never said I wanted to raise it!

[Pet Species: Ice Lizard]

[Pet Name: Unnamed]

[Status: Juvenile]

[Description: A rare mutant creature residing within caves, capable of lowering the surrounding temperature by 5 degrees with its breath, enjoys activities in water.]

[Abilities: Acceleration, agile movements allow it to escape from the battlefield at maximum speed or gain a speed advantage in combat

Cold Breath: Exhales cold air, freezing the opponent for several seconds, causing minor damage]

[Lifebound Talent: Not Awakened]

Lin Yue scrutinized the panel that suddenly appeared, wondering if he was indeed looking at a game panel.

What is going on here?

Ice Lizard? Cold Breath? Lifebound Talent? How did things develop in such an unexpected direction?

But still...

Lin Yue looked back at the white lizard.

"Puchi?" Another head tilt, it flicked out its pink tongue.

Clearly a charmer, huh.

Lin Yue pondered a moment; raising a pet, if beneficial to the adventure, might not be so bad?

Besides, looking at this little guy, it likely wouldn't consume much food, would it?

He actually had a considerable amount of food supplies.

And also...

Listening to the sounds from outside the house, the two injured Mutant Sheep continued to wail painfully.

They could provide quite a lot of meat...could this little creature eat meat too?

After some contemplation, Lin Yue turned his gaze back to the little lizard.

"Alright, what's one more? Then you will be called...uh, Bai then."

The name-deficient Lin Yue confessed he couldn't think of many good names.

"Puchi!" The Little Ice Lizard seemed to really like this name, crawling back and forth on the spot, constantly watching Lin Yue with its eyes.

"Alright, as long as you like it. So next..."

"Puchi, puchi!" Bai tightly clutched the piece of straw, crawling onto Lin Yue's hand, appearing quite pleased.

[Congratulations, you've named the Ice Lizard pet "Bai," affinity has slightly increased]

What, there's affinity too?

Isn't this a survival game, for God's sake?

Lin Yue placed Bai on his shoulder; it seemed to enjoy the somewhat higher location, looking around curiously.

With an Iron Spear in hand, Lin Yue walked outside, coming directly to the Mutant Sheep whose limbs he had initially cut off with an Iron Axe, rendering it immobile, and thrust the Iron Spear into its throat.

[You have obtained a Copper Treasure Chest]

[Would you like to dissect the mutant creature?]

Of course, yes.

[You have obtained Mutant Sheep Meat X10kg, Sheep Skin X1, Fangs X2]

He then approached the Mutant Sheep whose belly had been slashed open and was still howling.

Just as Lin Yue was about to end its misery, Bai suddenly leaped off his shoulder onto the ground.

"Bai?"

Lin Yue realized the little guy unexpectedly jumped into the spilled viscera, biting a piece of intestine with its little mouth, chewing it with gusto!
