Cora's hands clenched into fists. Her knuckles turned white from the pressure. "And they found my sister somehow. They discovered she was here and went after her."
Her voice carried barely controlled emotion. Anger, fear, and frustration all mixed together into something that threatened to break through her usually calm demeanor. Her pink eyes blazed with intensity that made several of the disciples take an involuntary step back.
"That seems likely," Arthur agreed. His tone remained calm and measured, a stark contrast to Cora's visible distress. "Your sister clearly discovered their presence. She investigated them thoroughly, gathering information about their activities and goals. And at some point during that investigation, they became aware of her."
He paused, letting that sink in. "Once they knew someone was watching them, they would have acted quickly to eliminate the threat."
