Nurse Joy came up early in the morning and woke me up and told me Zubat is healed up and asked me "Are you going to catch Zubat?"
"I don't know, I am not so fond of Zubat."
"Oh, why not asked Zubat if it want's to stay with you or leave."she told me
"Ya that seems like a good idea."
She went inside and brought Zubat who flew straight towards me kind of like thanking me.
"Hey, buddy do you want to join my team?" I asked
It seems quite happy about it and started to fly around me. I got a pokeball out of my bag and placed it in front of it. Zubat tapped with it's wings and went inside it.
"Looks like I have a new friend, well I was not sure before but since it want's to come with me I have nothing to go against its will."
Nurse Joy congratulated me and went to do her work. Now I have 2 Pokemon which means I also have to earn more to feed them, it's good that Pokemon can go a long time without eating but still I need to feed them good pokefood to keep their morale up.
I decided to go to Viridian forest again to train both my Pokemon Scyther is pretty strong it can handle bunch of Beedrill on it's own but Zubat seems to be struggling a little.
I came back to Pokemon center and heal them up and went to a small Pokemon battle arena behind Pokemon Center there were many people here today probably because of the Rookie Cup, new trainers are here to train.
I looked around to see if I can battle anyone and I see a guy probably in his late teens who was getting into battle after battle so I went there and asked a guy
"Hey, why is that guy battling continuously?"
He replied "Eh, he put in a bet that if anyone can beat him , he will give them 100 pokecoins."
"100Pokecoins" I thought to myself I can get decent pokeblocks(type of pokefood) to feed my Pokemon before the Rookie Cup. So I went there and waited for the battle to end in order to challange him. He has a Machop who is continuously beating every new trainer even even though it's a 2v2 battle.
Everyone is a beginner here but still to keep up that streak is impressive. He also doesn't seem like a beginner probably came here to flaunt on these newbies.
Just like that he beats another trainer there was still a trainer before me who wanted to challange him so I waited for my turn. It is also beneficial for me as he's Pokemon will get tired. Trainer before me went into the field and I started to look closely at which moves and tactics Machop and his trainer is using. I noticed that he isn't using that complicated tactics just using moves like bulk up and karate chopping or low kicking everyone.
After the trainer before me was beaten I walked in the field and and challenged him, obviously he accepted and says his name is Jay.
Battle rules being a 2v2 battle whoever knock out both Pokemon of one side wins. I started with Zubat as it's flying type is stronger against his Machop and he as expected with his Machop. But the thing is my Zubat only knows three moves being Supersonic, bite and Wing attack and I betting on wing attack to give the win.
*Battle begins*
Jay:Machop ,bulk up.
As expected he went with that
"Zubat ,use Supersonic"
Machop dodges it and bulk's up which will increase his attack and defence
Jay : Let's go Machop, Karate chop
"Zubat Dodge it and fly up"
Zubat narrowly dodges the attack and fly's high
Jay:That's fine with us, Machop, Focus energy.
Sh*t I gave him free time to raise his energy
"Zubat use Supersonic"
As Machop was focusing his energy he gets hit by supersonic and got himself confused
Jay: Come on Machop snap out of it.
"Zubat, Wing attack."
Confused by supersonic Machop is unable to to react and wing attack gets a direct hit which sends Machop flying.
I thought it was over but much to my surprise Machop stood up and starts focusing his energy even though it was hurt bad.
"Zubat, Wing attack let's go"
Jay: Machop ,let's finish this, Karate chop"
Zubat went in flying as Machop wasn't moving but right before wing attack hits Machop moved side ways and hits Zubat with Karate Chop at it's back.
Zubat crashes to the floor and faints.
"That was some ridiculous move so this is what real Pokemon battles feels like."
I called back Zubat in his pokeball and thanked him because I know he have dealt some heavy damage to Machop.
"Alright buddy, it's your time to shine, go Scyther."
"Scyy...therrrrr"
Jay: Machop bulk up.
"Scyther use quick attack"
Scyther hits Machop before it could bulk up which pushed him back and down.
"Finish it with Wing attack"
Jay: Dodge it Machop
As soon as Machop gets up Scyther hits it with wing attack to send him flying to the wall as it faints.
Jay:Come back Machop , thanks buddy take rest. Alright then Go Fearow.
Fearow,really? this is a bad news for me.
Jay: Go Fearow use fury attack
"Scyther, swords dance"
I have seen in anime that swords dance be used as a defensive move as well to block attack and it also boosts my attack.
Fearow attacks furiously but everything is blocked by Scyther.
"Scyther use Slash"
Jay: Fearow, Aerial Ace.
Both move clashed and both Pokemon are blown away and looks hurt.
Jay: Not but you won't last long. Fearow, roost.
Fearow is refreshed while Scyther looks hurt.
Jay: Fearow,Fury attack.
"Scyther,double team"
Scyther's double team confuses fearow as it can't find the real one.
"Alright,Scyther now focus energy."
Jay: Fearow, use Gust to blow away all of it.
Fearow's gust blows away all the mirror image of Scyther
Jay: There you are, go Fearow Aerial Ace.
"Focus a little bit more, let him come"
Fearow comes towards Scyther with lots of speed
"Now Scyther agility"
Right before Fearow hits Scyther Swiftly dodges it with agility.
Jay: Argh , one more time Aerial Ace
"Night Slash"
As fearow was about to charge towards Scyther, Scyther teleports behind Fearow because of the agility boosting his speed and lands Focus energy boosted Night Slash on Fearow, who crash land on the floor. As dust slowly clears.
"Fearow is unable to battle, Winner of the round and match Byson." declares the refree( it's not official refree though just a trainer filling the role)
This is it, this is the feeling you get when you win a battle not like in to games where you breeze through every trainer. In real battle even this victory feels like I am in top of the world, probably because it's my first time winning one.
Jay walks towards me and congratulated me and handed 100 pokecoins as the bet was.
"That was a good battle, hotel we can battle again in future" he says with a smile.
"Sure, why not hahah" I replied
I then went to Pokemon Center and left my Pokemon to nurse Joy to check them while I went to Pokefood shop and bought 10 pokeblocks worth 50 Pokecoins.
After that I went back to Pokemon Center and recieved my Pokemon.I brought them out and feed them pokeblocks as their reward. Obviously I didn't gave all of them at once I should not spoil them but they seem quite happy eating 3 each.
Nothing sort of intresting happened that day afterwards and even on the next day we just went and beat up some more Beedrills (Sorry lol) and had some friendly battle in the Pokemon battle arena and just like that the day over again and finally the day came.
Rookie Cup is here, I got call from Adrien as he wanted him, me and Cole to got there together we met up on our way and finally reached the place where it was being held at the very own Viridian City Gym.
"This is where the real journey begins, by winning my first ever trophy."
