Jane woke up and there was no sign of Chris here by her side, he seemed to be absent a lot these few times. She turned her head to the other side and there was Grace by her side.
Her eyes were closed but she didn't seem to be sleeping cause she opened her eyes the moment she tapped her.
"Hey, Miss Grace," Jane said and she quickly jerked up.
"Hey Jane, you are awake," she said and stood up to move closer to her.
"Do you need me to call Mike?' she asked her but Jane nodded, she felt way better and she didn't need the doctor.
"Uhmm no it's fine. Where's Chris?" she asked and Grace smiled. No wonder she was kind of moody, she just wanted to see Chris.
"Well, he went to get some things done. He told me he will go over to the media house that has been spreading fake news," she said to her and that helped her calm down a bit. She had thought probably he left her.
"And the kids? I would like to see them," she said and Grace nodded.
"I actually had someone bring them here but we took up a ward separately for them, I would not want them disturbing you," she said and Jane's eyes lit up, she misses her kids, especially Chris.
"Can you please bring them?" she asked her and Grace stood up to go bring them in, they were also eager to see her. She would get Mike to come here on her way.
"Yes, sure. Excuse me." Grace said and left the room.
When Grace came back with the kids, the nurses and Mike were already there and Jane was sitting up.
"Mummy." Chris ran to his mother the moment he saw her and Jane was almost shedding tears.
Jane also moved closer to her. She and Chris are like twins now and they go everywhere together. After that day that she talked, she has not been able to do it again. But right now she feels the urge to talk.
"Hey my love, I missed you so much," Jane said and kissed her son all over the face.
"I missed you too Mom. You are okay now, right? Can we go home now?" Chris asked and Jane looked up at Mike.
"Don't worry little champ, your mom will be good soon and you can now all go home," he said and Chris nodded.
Jane could see little Jane by the side and she stretched her hand to carry her, she missed this little angel as well.
"Come here Jane," she said and hugged her with so many kisses. Jane brought out her iPad and typed something on it.
"How are you feeling now?" she asked her and Jane smiled.
"Oh, my sweet little angel. I'm doing better now," she said and hugged both children.
"Where's Mrs Whitney by the way?" she asked, she had not seen her since she opened her eyes this evening.
"According to her, the food sold here at the hospital is not homemade and it has a lot of chemicals so I had the driver drop her off so she could prepare a meal like she wants to," Grace explained.
She has no idea why someone would just like to stress herself over nothing.
"That's how she is," Jane said and Mrs Whitney came in just in time.
"Oh, my sweet little girl is awake already." Mrs Whitney said and went ahead to kiss her all over the face.
"Mrs Whitney. I learnt you went home to cook," she said and she nodded.
"Hmm yes, I can't allow you to eat all of that nonsense prepared here, no offense to the hospital but I just can't allow it." Mrs Whitney said and Mike shook his head.
"It's alright Mrs Whitney, I'm not offended, we will try to update our menu," he said and moved to the other side so he could give Jane some pills.
"Oh, that's good to hear. Guess who came with me?" Mrs Whitney asked and Jane could not even think. She doubts if her brain is functioning properly yet.
"Oh Mrs Whitney, can you just tell me who the person is? I don't think I have the brain and the strength to think of all these things," she said and Mrs Whitney laughed.
"You can come in Zain," she said and Zain appeared from nowhere.
"Mom it's Uncle Zain." Chris was the first person to see him and he jumped down from the bed to run to him.
"Hey, champ. You missed me?" Zain asked as he carried Chris in his hands to mess with his hair.
"Yes, I miss you very much. Did you bring John?" he asked and Zain shook his head.
"No boy we can't have so many people visiting your mom at the same time. I promise I will bring him to meet you one of these days." Zain said and Chris nodded. He would have loved to see his friend but Uncle Zain is right.
"Uncle Zain meet my little sister Jane. Jane come say hello." Chris said and jumped down to bring her closer.
"Oh okay!! Hello Jane. How are you doing?" Zain asked even though he didn't understand how she was his sister.
Jane nodded and then typed some words on her pad.
"I'm fine," she said and Zain kissed her on the cheek.
He stood up and made his way to where Jane was.
"Hey Jane, how are you feeling now?" he asked her, seeing her again really brought some bad memories and mixed feelings. He had promised that he would try to move on from her. But no matter how hard he tries, he keeps finding himself in the same spot.
Seeing her again is nothing but a confirmation that he is still in love with her and it might stay that way for a very long time.
"I'm good Zain, thanks for asking and stopping by," Jane said to him.
He took her hands and held it and at that moment, Chris came inside the ward.
