Violently and frantically, Jin's body shot up with him grasping for dear life with bloodshot eyes, moving about recklessly.
The man drew ragged, heavy breaths, each one strained and labored. Waves of pain rippled through his body, forcing him to remain as still as possible.
Jin felt as if death were closing in on him, yet even that paled beside the mental image seared into his mind. He wasn't going to forget his encounter with Daeva and the fireman anytime soon, so that alone was a frightening thought. It was going to haunt him for a long time to come, a memory far more terrifying than his wounds.
Not as haunting as the words Daeva said to him, though.
"I won't make the same mistake again. Once I awaken, you'll be of no use to us."
