Volume 73
At dawn, they arrived at Leo's dwelling place. Leo hurries to the kitchen to prepare Lunch while the others discussed among themselves. Do you all noticed something strange about the town? Anastasia asked feeling distressed. The town makes me feel so uneasy. Lex answered. What do you mean, love? Diana added. I also noticed it too. I was thinking it was all in my imagination. Strange sound and funny mysterious voices laughing in a mocking tone. Anastasia exclaimed. Oh, goodness! This is freaking me out.
Camelia answered. It gets even worse. At night, this mysterious creature in beastlike form appears in the middle of the night and tries to suck out the life force of individuals who happened to fall into their trap. They end up turning these poor souls into ghost. It doesn't just stop at that. These humans turned ghost are sent as messengers to lure other humans into their dens and have them trapped too. They've created a lot of chaos in this town. Turning people into ghost and depriving them of their right to live.
Leo appeared with slices of bread, honey, cheese and wine. Your friend is right. Of recent, the creatures had been on the uproar and they've been so intimidating. They even appeared at day time to cause nuisance. It became so serious, we had to employ individuals who had to serve as ghost hunters to end their reign, but it doesn't look like, it's going to be so easy to put an end to them.
Can you explain more about these creatures? What are they and what's their main purpose? Lex asked. As much as I can remember, I had a story from a close friend who's also a hunter. You know, this town used to be the safest place for foreign dwellers to settle in but everything changed after a bloody riot occurred that led to the demise of numbers of our brethren in this town. They were fugitives who came to live among us several years ago. Having ran away from their slave masters, they happened to settle down here. Due to our history of always accommodating foreigners, disregarding their title or status, we welcome them like our own people.
Everything was all good until the day, riot broke out due to the fact, the foreign dwellers had started to become greedy and wanted equal right such as the one given to our people. Well, after several negotiations and agreements, we thought it was all over. Unknown to us, these foreign dwellers had their own agenda. They wanted to get rid of our people so that they can have the town to themselves, eventually leading to a bloody coup. Well, we won the battle but lost so many of our brothers. Later after so many years, I guess the sudden appearance of these mysterious creatures. They call them the offspring of the fugitives who wanted our land for themselves. They said, they're here to finish what their fore-fathers started. They want the possession of the land. Who would believe, they're not even humans but monstrous looking beast going all the way to intimate us and take over our possession. Diana answered smiling. What if they're actually humans but, they've been taking dark magical portions that changes their appearance. Anastasia shocked. Can this be possible?
Camelia answered. When it comes to magic, everything is possible. These beasts I believe, have a human like appearance but only their faces look different from their entire body. There's no doubt, they're taking portions that keep their identity hidden. So, what do we do about these creepy creatures? Anastasia asked. I don't need anyone coming to suck out my soul and turning me into a ghost. The others laughed as Lex touches her hands firmly. No one dares to harm you while I'm here. I will always protect you, 'my love'. Anastasia smiled as she consumes the snacks on the table, then the others joins in. At dawn tomorrow, you will take us to your hunter's friend. Lex asked. We want to help eradicate the nuisance trying to end the race of the good people of this town. Leo smiled. Sure, I will. You all have a rest while I go prepare your rooms for tonight.
