Why Kane was so sure of this, besides Aiklonen's assurance before entering the trial, was because he hadn't summoned the {Book of Adventure} again since arriving at this dungeon.
{Book of Adventure} doesn't respond to a summon only in two situations.
One is being completely blocked, but considering this hidden dungeon, Kane finds it unlikely, requiring Mist to personally intervene.
