She just stared at the distant crowd, remaining silent for a long time.
Jane grabbed her shoulder, moving to face her. Under the light, she saw Mabel Doyle's pale face, realizing she might have been too harsh with her words. She apologized, "I'm sorry, Mabel, I was just anxious..."
"It's okay..." Mabel shook her head, her eyes red. She looked at Jane, silent for a moment before telling her the truth, "Jane, do you know why I don't want to meet him?"
"Who!?" Jane couldn't react for a moment, then immediately realized, "Do you mean Bryan White?!"
