Without wasting time, I teleported behind the axe and in two seconds with two powers - hydro and frost, stopped it right when it just touched her neck. The axe was beautiful, and it was somehow extremely light when I picked it up. I couldn't understand how it could have possibly done any damage, but better be safe than risk anything. I yeeted it at the wall behind me, and it just smashed through, revealing a brighter domain which resembled...a blurry forest.
I didn't think much about the impact despite the lightness of the axe and a moderate speed and effort in my throw since the other side's appearance was more concerning. Beside that, the broken wall was rebuilding itself, though at a thankfully slow rate. Still, it was better to move to someplace than staying amongst this bizarreness.
I unshackled mom quickly, took her in my arms and walked over to the wall. I couldn't risk using teleport since I didn't know whether I could teleport just myself or someone else with me as well.
I tried to step over to the other domain, but something like an invisible wall was preventing me from doing so. I didn't have healing abilities, else I would've healed mom and then we could've tried to get out of here together.
All this was damn irritating. So much time with so much trouble, without a moment of rest. I remember having rest days in my previous life, but then it did get me too restless and I died so, it was in some angles better this way.
I went back to where I picked her up from, then let her down slowly and laid her on her back. Then I walked back to the wall, put up my hand, my palm outwards, and thought - *Flare*.
Immediately, bright red flames of high intensity gushed out of my palm, and hit the wall.
Nothing happened for quite some time and hence I stopped the flames.
The only power I could properly use out of the ones I possessed was physique enhancer, being used to a similar power in previous times.
Hence once again, I thought of it.
I stood in a fighting stance, my eyes closed, and started concentrating 50% of my current mana in the fist of my right hand. With my left hand, I faced my palm to my yet-unconscious mom, and thought of gravity negate. With that, she started floating and went up to my shoulder level. I didn't bring her any closer because of the thought that this current attack of mine might be explosive alongside being destructive.
Using physique enhancer was kinda fun, but a little troublesome since that was the only thing that I could best use. Gravity negate was another very interesting power, but it drained quite a good amount of mana, if not concentrated well.
"50% mana concentrated; ready to empower"
I pushed myself into the ground, the surface shattering, and with multiple rock hard punches straight to the wall, I threw out all the power I had to try to shatter the glass. My strength crashed against the wall, sending high speed air currents back towards me, the room shaking.
Cuts started to appear over my arms, blood sprinkling out. I was overusing this power because of the non-stop threats coming our way; so much so that I couldn't build up this body or try strengthen the other powers.
The force of the punch being returned was as incredible as the power itself, but it the glass started creaking; meaning, my power-and-mana packed punch was much more powerful than the wall.
A crack appeared, and a glass piece flew against my hair. Slowly, the cracks appeared all over the wall, and the other side started distorting a little. The pain was bearable, but I knew I had to finish this quick. My body wouldn't last long like this.
When it looked like the wall would break with one tough push, I had a sudden surge of strength and gave one last mighty punch. The glass broke, and the wall blasted, throwing me back.
"Os, that was not a good thing to do," someone said, and caught me in their arms. I turned my neck around.
Mom was up.
"Hey! You need to sleep. You're not okay right now, you have to rest," I scowled. She chuckled.
"I definitely do, but you wouldn't have survived right now had I not saved you. Plus just look at yourself. Not only were you thrown back but because this place would've almost instantly crumbled the moment you shattered the wall."
The place started shaking more violently and I didn't have much strength to carry her.
She sighed. "I'll explain later, so first let's get out of here. I don't have much strength or mana left."
With that, she held me in a bridal carry position, and then straight up floated out of the room.
The moment we stepped out, the entire place collapsed and mom's arms weakened, both of us dropping to the ground with me going down face first.
"Ah," I groaned, sat up and looked around. It definitely looked different from how it looked when we were trapped on the other side.
There was mist as far as the eye could see, to the point that nothing was visible, which was either this way, or anything and everything in here was being concealed by the beings here.
*Permanent power established - Physique Enhancer - level : max*
*Self level - unknown*
"Here we go again," I thought. Something crazy happened because of my constant use of that one ability, but I was too worried to figure out.
Mom didn't look fine with her eyebrows scrunched up and bloodstains on her face. I bent towards her nose, and her hear snoring lightly, signifying she was sleeping. Probably exhausted from all that happened. For the time being, all we could do was either keep sitting here, or move around and try to find someone.
I wasn't bleeding much, but it hurt when I touched the cuts. Though there were a few drops of blood on the grass. I would heal fine, but mom would need a relatively higher scale.
The thought of me leaving her here to go look for help was not an option, given what already happened and this suspicious mist, so I had to take her with me to wherever help was. We remained there for some time while my mana recovered, and in the meantime I decided making up some more spells which could come in handy, decided on short words for them.
Moving on, I tried to use area radar (7th power) to see if there was anyone nearby. The process was very simple, but it would leave anyone vulnerable to direct attacks if not done with precautions. Either palm on the ground, a slight push and think "Look".
My entire body vibrated, and I could suddenly see all around within the fixed range this power offers, but it felt like that one time when I was given a flashback; it felt as if I was looking out but not from my body but like an uninhabited soul. Thinking I didn't have enough time, I ran around in that form, but I could see nothing but this damn mist.
One drawback however of this form was, since I could not use my body to look around while using area radar, none of the powers I had would work. This meant I would have to keep my body or have it secured while I used area radar.
On finding no-one, I came back to my body and was put in deep thought. Somehow, I couldn't understand the need of area radar. It not just left my body vulnerable if unattended, but also left anyone with me vulnerable as well. I opened the screen and went to the panel where area radar was, and read about it once again. There was no useful information regarding this, but there was something which was hidden with a tag over it. I tried to remove it but couldn't, so left it that way.
I sat, oscillating, and thought of trying to make a barrier, or a heal technique if possible. Spell caster was not yet available, but I had a feeling it will be within some time.
My area radar pinged in one ear. I turned towards that direction and squinted my eyes. Two figures were hurrying towards me, swords in their hands.
I was already beyond tired and out of strength, yet enemies would just not stop pouring out.
Enraged, I stood up, the air around me becoming hot, and with one hard step on the ground, I cracked it. The cracks grew fast towards those two, but they jumped up into the sky, and flew towards me.
After all that had happened, I couldn't let myself be killed here or let mom be killed. I plucked off two pinches of grass from the ground, closed my eyes and said, "Magic of the Forest, Holy Sword."
My eyes snapped open, and right before the were in close contact, I had a sword in each hand, devil green with blue mist circulating it. I created a cross in the air, stopping those two while getting pushed into the ground a little. Surprisingly, the swords themselves repelled them with an equal amount of force, throwing them back.
They landed softly on the ground, and the mist around them parted a little. There were two...cat-like humans- a boy and a girl - neither were they much tall, nor did they look older than me. Their expressions were blank, revealing no openings.
"Looks like it's him," the boy said. Both of them placed their swords' blade into the ground, which got sucked in.
"Let's take him to the chief. He'll know whether or not the issue can be resolved using him," the girl said.
"No need," a heavy voice called out. I turned towards the voice, and faced another someone hidden away in the mist. He was taller than me, but didn't look like he had a heavy figure. He walked with a stick though.
"Come with us, we have a lot to discuss."
And they started to walk away.
