After spending the afternoon at Backflow Cove, Victor went off to handle some matters, leaving Polly Sutton waiting for him in his temporary office.
As Thomas Yates grumbled his way down the corridor, he caught sight of Polly, who clearly also noticed him and heard his muttering about brats and little rascals.
Thinking back to the first time she met Thomas, he had been a refined gentleman. Indeed, people do adapt their personalities to their environments.
"What brings you here? Scoping out the terrain?" Thomas's expression shifted to that of a perfect gentleman.
Polly nodded, not bothering to expose Thomas's facade, "What's Mr. Yates busy with?"
"Half of the equipment I just bought got blown up." Thomas cursed, "So how's the terrain looking? I can't quite wrap my head around Victor's concept; his brain's too active. I can't keep up."
While saying this, Thomas poured water for Polly, "But with you around, I'm not too worried. His wild ideas—probably only you can pull them off."
