The Astana Arkin slew[1] a path towards Marnaru. The thick ichor unhindered them as they stormed towards the obsidian mountain and made their way to the top. The dark shapes of countless beasts piled up around them.
But they were slow compared to the Seraphim and the Divas as they battled the most enormous monsters brought to bear against them.
However, some Seraphim were slain and, to their and the mortals' horror, could not reform their corporeal body again. Their bodies turned a deep purple, and their gold eyes turned a deep, obsidian black.
The Astana Arkin stayed at the foot of the mountain and kept the horde away from the Seraphim as they fought their way to the top.
But Marnaru was a monstrous force, and the divas and Seraphim could not slay him. Marnaru Ripped and tore them. Severing limbs and tearing wings from their bodies. Diva and Seraphim died, their mutilated bodies scattered around him.
Celvar could not fight him, as her only weapon, the omen hammer, did not harm him.
With a raking strike, he severed her apart. Her ruined body fell before him, and he gloated over Celvar. "Foolish Godling to think I had not taken precautions from your hammer? My soul is incorporated in this realm, you see, and you can not ha-" A Seraphm bodied him away from Celvar, tackling him, giving Celvar enough time to pass her hammer.
She called to a seraph to take her omen hammer and use it on the Black Sun above them, betting it was the centre of his realm.
The Seraph obeyed and flew up into the sky towards the obsidian sun, striking it with great force and unmaking it, causing it to crack and shatter.
Marnaru began to howl in pain as the realm cracked and shattered around him. The open portals started to sputter out and fade. Marnaru shattered into sharp shards that scattered onto the floor.
The surviving host tried to reach Celvar, but as the cracks covered the mountain, it spread onto them and shattered them. The whole realm was destabilising and them with it. The Divas, Seraphim and Astana Akin fled towards the fading portals, but the shattering caught up with them. A Few of the Astana akin escaped being thrown by the Seraphim out of the portal. The Diva Tek'lana was close to the portal but was shattered, and her emerald shards rained down on her Domain of Jall'Naria.
All across Celvar'wyn, the portals closed, and the Marnarus horde, without their connection to their master, fled into the dark corners of the earth.
The few surviving Astana Akin looked into the portal they escaped and saw all within shattered into shards before imploding into the void. The portal fluttered and faded into nothing.
No one else except them made it out. Their connection to their bonded Seraphim was broken, and they limped back to the bastions, with terrible news to relay to the other survivors.
