Chapter 6 - Chapter 5

JAN, 5TH CONTINUED

"And the beginning." Drew said, "The beginning to what!?" I yelled and the house shook a little. "Anna, It's gonna be okay." Amber tried to calm me down but that just made me more ticked off. Drew stepped in front of her and it was weird. I could feel and see a strange blue-like aura coming from him and It made Rayne back away from him. It was then did I see their wolves again and Rayne's looked like she was trying to hide. "What do you think you are doing Drew?" I said in a low and surprisingly threatening tone. "You need to calm down Anna." He said in the exact same manner.

"Guys, please calm down," Amber said as she wrapped her small hands around his arm. "Tell that to her." He said as he took a step back. I turned to Rayne and she ran into me with a big hug. I could feel myself calming down and when I looked in the mirror I was back to my old self. My brown skin and long black hair and eyes. Even the tattoo disappeared, I turned to the others and they sighed in relief. "What is all of this?" I had asked them.

We all went back into the living room and I went and sat by Suzie, Amber sat down on the couch, and Drew joined her. "So, here's the thing. And I want you to understand that this isn't something that can be completely explained as I don't have all of the answers." She looked at all of us and continued. "No one in this room are humans in the way you know that humans are." Well, I wasn't truly expecting that. "By human, you mean like Ben or Bruce and everyone else?" Rayne asked. Drew looked away before Amber could, she sighed "Yes, a human by definition is a mammal creature that can live up to a hundred years and procreates their own species due to their lack of immortality." I nodded, "So why aren't we humans?" I asked, "Because I am a witch and both Drew and Rayne are Lycans and you, Anna are a wolf."

"But I'm starting to have doubts about that after what happened in the bathroom," Drew said halfway under his breath. "If you got something to say then just say it" It came out as half a snarl and half challenging. "Anna!" Rayne yelled, What?" I turned to Rayne who just shook her head. I sighed, "Proceed." I said with a pout, Amber giggled a little at our big and little sister dynamic. "But yes, and because of the fact that you two are lycans," "And a wolf," Drew added "that means again, no one in this room is human. We are all immortals. and we all have come from the immortal plain." "That doesn't make sense," Rayne cut in. "Both me and Anna are adopted, our grandmother adopted us, and I'm sure two little immortal shifters would have caused suspension at the doctor's office."

"This is true," Drew answered, "But from the one time I met your grandmother I think she knew what you two were." "Did you?" I asked, "Did either of you know?" Amber nodded, "I knew since I first met you on campus then when I met Rayne at your house that summer. And when I was speaking to her she asked me to keep an eye on you both and said you two were to be protected." I both wanted to scream and cry. So Grams knew and didn't tell us or even try to prepare us for the chance we would ever find out. "Is anybody looking for us?" I asked not wanting to know the answer. They shook their heads, "No, or at least as far as I know. and also I want to mention that the pressure we were all feeling moments ago was the Elders." "Elders? Elders of what?" Rayne asked. "Elders are the kings of their races. They oversee and make declared laws that everyone must abide by. And another thing. Now that they know you two exist they may send others here to retrieve you."

"Why would they want to retrieve us?" I asked, "Because there are little to know females in our races across the shifter board, that's why." Drew said,

"And as far as the human concept of the supernatural, they are not that far from the truth. and the Elders oversee the Kings, who oversee the alphas, who in turn oversee their packs and fend off the berserkers that try to attack them and escape to this world."

"That sounds like a rouge." she nodded, "rouge is the human word for it. because that's what berserkers mean. a rouge beast that no longer has a contract with the human spirit and seeks blood and death."

"But that still doesn't explain why we damn near got squished by that force earlier, or why Anna is and was acting aggressively." Rayne opened the pizza box and took out a slice. I turned to them and they just watched me for a moment, I was still under the effects of it all as I was starting to mellow out a bit. "That was because a particular Elder felt you both or something like that." "You don't know?" I asked "No I don't, nor could I tell you why or who exactly did it. Like the two of you, I came here when I was a small girl too."

We all then turned to Drew, He looked at each of us then grabbed the bottle of jack and took a good swigg of it before continuing. "Welp, This is bound to be interesting." And just then, my vision began to blur and everything in me was fighting whatever this was trying to force me to sleep. The air began to smell like daisies and spring rain. My body was burning up from the inside, and I turned to see that Rayne was shivering and shaking. She rubbed her hands all over her arms in an attempt to keep herself warm. Amber and Drew looked like they were panicking as they went to get a blanket for Rayne and what felt like ice packs for me. the last thing I heard before going under was Amber's voice. "What the hell is happening to them now Drew?!" "How the hell am I supposed to know babe?! I'm just as lost as you. Do you need another ice pack for her? That looks to be a slushie now." I chuckled at his comment, and just like that, I was out like a light.

In the darkness came the images of fleeting lights, they all rushed past me until I emerged into what looked like a meadow on a warm spring or summer day. I looked around but there was nothing distinct besides me, so I walked. I walked a bit before I came up to a park with a swingset. There were three figures, one a small child, and the other two looked to be some adults. I walked around them to be able to see who they were, and to my surprise the small child was me. My same unruly black mane and curious dark brown eyes that could fit the whole world in them by how big they were. My face had freckles and I was wearing a cute summer dress and sandals. The two figures were both women, one looked like me were the other didn't. The woman that did resemble me crouched down in front of me, "Hey sweetie." Her voice was soft and warm like the sun. Her ash brown hair curled and fell like a waterfall and her freckles were so pretty with her grass-colored eyes and deep beige skin. "You know I love you right? And that your auntie loves you too?" My smaller self nodded, I watched as she took off her necklace that resembled a wolf. "You know what this is don't you?" I nodded, "Yeah it's the first gift daddy gave you when you met." I said with such glee that only a small child could have. The woman nodded, "And I want you to have it." She went to put the necklace around my neck, but it was too big. "Mommy, why are you giving me this?" she only chuckled, "Now baby, now I want you to understand that one day all of this will make sense. But not today, and although you probably may forget us one day we would never forget you. You are our precious little Moon Flower." She leaned forward and kissed the top of my forehead, the weight of the necklace was very noticeable and the metal felt cold against my warm skin. I fumbled with the wolf when she gave me a hug that I have come to know from Rayne, and that comparison made me think that she resembled Rayne quite a bit in small subtle ways. "I love you -" her words were cut off as the other figure moved and the memory was distorted, I wanted to know what she said and who she and the other woman were. But as I tried to grab the memory I was brought back to the living room.

When I looked around I noticed a few hours had passed from the clock on the tv. I continued my scan when I came upon Rayne as she was still asleep and she looked like she was crying. I moved to go to her but Drew sat in front of me on the coffee table. "She's fine, trust me you had the same expressions earlier." He handed me a box of tissue. "What happened and how long was I out?" He shook his head, "You were out for two hours and as far as what is happening I can't really tell you since I don't know myself." Amber came back into the room just then and it looked like something passed through her which almost made her pass over. Within a blink of an eye Drew had caught her and picked her up in a bridal style. He brought her to the couch and I laid the blanket over her, "Hey, sleepy head." She chuckled "If we knew you two wanted to go to bed we could have left." She made a tired grin and I could tell whatever just happened took a lot out of her, "Yeah, I guess we just need a little cat nap after that edible." We all chuckled, I turned to Drew "Is she okay?" It took him a moment before he tore his eyes off of her, "Huh? Oh, yeah. She'll be fine after some rest and food." It was then that I realized they were mates, "You can take her into the spare bedroom, I think we have that bed made up." He nodded and went to pick her up. "Thanks." He left out of the room and I went to Rayne who was still out of it.

I petted the top of her head, something Granny use to do whenever we had nightmares. "It's gonna be okay." I looked at the clock again and it read five am, so I went and started making breakfast. While I was cooking Drew came back out and picked Rayne up and put her on the couch. "Thanks," I said, he only nodded and began cleaning up last night's dinner from the living room. "Do you need help with any of the cooking?" I shook my head, "Nah, but if you want you can either go ahead and set the table or start washing some of the dishes I didn't get. He rolled up his sleeves and I went back to the bacon, it was a simple breakfast. Pancakes, eggs, and bacon. Something I knew everyone ate.

Not long after I finished making breakfast and us setting it on the table the girls woke up and joined us at the table. "Well," I started off as I looked at everyone, "No one can't say we didn't have a blast after just moving in." I chuckled and soon everyone was laughing which broke the tension from last night and everyone started making their own plates.
