Chapter 62 - Chapter 61

"Welcome, family and friends," the officiating minister began, his voice steady but warm. "We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the marriage of Mr. Joe Anderson and Miss Vera Walter. This is not the beginning of a new relationship, but an acknowledgment of the next chapter in their lives together. Joe and Vera have spent years getting to know one another, and we now bear witness to what their relationship has become. Today, they will affirm this bond formally and publicly."

The soft music swelled.

"Let the groom come in," the minister announced.

Joe entered the hall, flanked by his brother Richard as best man. The piano notes carried them gently down the aisle, followed by the groom's men Chris, Ademide(Bianca's dad), Austin, Liam, and several colleagues from A.J. Law Firm. Joe's hands trembled slightly, but his expression was filled with quiet joy as he stood at the altar, waiting for his bride.

"Let the bride come in," the minister declared.

The room seemed to still. All eyes turned to the entrance. Vera appeared, veiled, bouquet in hand, radiant in her gown. Each step she took was graceful, steady, filled with both nerves and pride. Behind her came her bridal train Bella, Raquel, Joanna, Natalie, Luciana, Nadia, Lillian, Bianca, Tatiana, and Alexia each one elegant in their coordinated dresses.

The twins, Kayden and Jayden, proudly walked their mother down the aisle, holding her hands on either side. It was a symbolic moment her sons giving her away to the man who would cherish her for the rest of her life.

Tears streamed down Joe's face the moment he saw Vera. He didn't try to hide them. Richard discreetly passed him a handkerchief, and even then Joe barely managed to control himself.

Austin, watching from the groomsmen's row, felt his own heart swell with memory. His wedding to Bianca flashed in his mind, and instinctively he glanced at his wife. Bianca met his gaze with teary eyes, smiling. They both knew they were reliving their own vows through this moment.

Chris, on the other hand, found himself lost in a different thought. He imagined Bella in white, walking toward him one day. The image sent warmth through his chest, and he couldn't suppress the smile tugging at his lips.

When Vera finally reached Joe, she lifted her gaze, meeting his eyes with a look that spoke of love, survival, and triumph.

The minister's voice broke through the silence.

"Should anyone present know of any reason that this couple should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace."

The hall was silent. He repeated it once. Twice. Still, silence.

"Then let us continue," he said. "Guests, please rise."

The audience stood as the minister led them into a communal vow.

"Our bride and groom have asked all present to pledge your support and love for them. Do you promise to encourage and inspire their dreams, to accept them not only as individuals but as a couple, to be their friends, and to give your support today and every day to follow?"

"We do," the guests responded in unison.

The minister nodded. "You may be seated. Now Joe and Vera, please join hands."

The couple faced one another, trembling with emotion.

"Joe," the minister said, "do you take Vera to be your wife?"

"I do," Joe replied firmly.

"Vera, do you take Joe to be your husband?"

"I do," Vera whispered, smiling through her tears.

"Please, say your vows."

Joe inhaled deeply, then spoke, his voice thick with emotion.

"Vera... do you remember the first day we met? I knew, in that moment, that we were meant to share life together. You've become my lover, my confidant, and my best friend. With you, I've learned that respect, trust, and open communication make us stronger than we could ever be alone. You are my strength, my joy, my heart. Today, I promise to cherish and protect you, to comfort you in pain, to nurture your dreams, and to love you fiercely for as long as I live. You have made me the happiest man in the world."

By the time he finished, Vera was crying openly. She gathered herself enough to answer.

"How lucky am I to call you mine? You have stood by me in my darkest moments, believed in me when I couldn't believe in myself. You make me brave. You make me whole. With you, I know I can face anything. Today, in faith and in love, I take you as my husband. For better, for worse, in sickness and in health, in joy and in sorrow, until death parts us. I vow to walk in God's plan with you my partner, my love, my home."

Tears weren't limited to the couple. Joanna, Bella, Tatiana, and the twins were already sobbing quietly, knowing what Vera had endured in her first marriage and how far she had come. This moment was redemption.

Little Jeremy walked forward with the rings, his small face beaming with pride.

"These rings," the minister explained, "are the outward sign of an unending love."

Joe slid the ring onto Vera's finger, repeating after the minister:

"I give you this ring as a symbol of the promise I make to you today."

Vera did the same, her hand steady despite her tears.

"With the power vested in me," the minister declared, "I now pronounce you husband and wife. Joe, you may kiss your bride."

Joe lifted her veil gently, hands trembling, then cupped her face and kissed her with all the passion of a man who had waited a lifetime for this second chance.

The room erupted.

"Wooooooh!" guests shouted. Applause thundered through the hall.

"Congratulations! Friends and family," the minister announced over the cheers, "it is my great honour to introduce to you, for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson!"

The sound doubled, hands clapping, voices cheering, cameras flashing. It was pure joy, the kind that filled the room until it overflowed.
