"Brother, the father of my baby has no idea about its existence."
"Or mine..." Camille whispered under her breath when she recalled the memories that had flashed in her mind earlier.
She wished to speak further in an attempt to explain that Davie wasn't at fault in this matter but paused when she felt a chill coming from the side.
Taking one look at her brother's face, she found that his expression only got worse once those words left her lips.
As she had just revealed, he had truly forgotten about David's relationship with Daniella, which had been going on for a few years now.
'And he still dared to treat my sister this way!?' He seethed in anger while narrowing his eyes, his annoyance toward David intensifying to a whole new level.
If there was a man closest to his sister, then it was David and as for a woman, then that could only be Daniella.
Therefore, he had known the young lady since she was a little girl with pigtails and a runny nose.
However, he had been busy dealing with office matters in recent times, and hence the relationship between David and Daniella had slipped his mind.
So, now to learn that David had not only played around with his sister but had also broken the trust of another woman, whom he treated as his younger sister, his rage knew no bounds.
Camille shuddered when she sensed the chilling aura coming from the man next to her, making her freeze for a moment.
Unaware of the fact that her brother's misunderstanding regarding her good friend David's loyalty had gained new heights, she assumed that he was furious about the statement she had just made.
Therefore, she decided to calm him and lessen his anger before he did something unpredictable and absolutely unnecessary.
"I do not want him to know about this." She revealed the plan she had come up with, which was also what the original owner of this body wished for.
Though she was now the new owner of this body, she would not go against the former Camille's wishes and hence had decided to go along with it.
'That would be the best for everyone.' She placated herself while staring at her flat stomach, which would soon begin to show signs of her pregnancy in another few weeks.
Looking at her little actions, the elder brother's anger subsided for the moment when he realized that he might affect her mood.
However, this did not mean that he would let David off the hook for what he had done.
Even now, he was still under the impression that the man closest to his Chansey was the father of the child, despite her weak attempts to refute that speculation.
He simply assumed that she was worried about getting him in trouble and hence, continued to deny his involvement in this matter.
Therefore, he had already made up his mind to teach that hooligan a lesson for messing with two of the younger ladies whom he cared a lot about.
"I do not understand why you want to keep this hidden from him…" He muttered once he had reached a conclusion on what he needed to do.
This grumbling tone made Camille raise her head as she looked in his direction and thanks to this, the elder brother found the perfect opportunity to try and change her mind.
"Don't you think you are letting that fool off the hook too easily?" He scoffed while clenching his hands to form tight fists.
In response, Camille was silent for a second, which allowed him to continue uninterrupted.
"He not only cheated on Daniella but also got you pregnant, so why are you still trying to protect him?" He disclosed the true thoughts that had formed in his mind after what he had learned in the last few minutes.
According to him, people like David should be punished, not protected.
Therefore, he was doing his best to change his sister's mind as that would allow him to move freely rather than working in the shadows to accomplish what he had decided earlier.
However, the moment those words echoed in the room, Camille's eyes widened once again and she almost choked on her saliva.
"Brother!" She called out his name in shock while staring unblinkingly.
He had been looking at her all along so he frowned when he saw the look of absolute terror appearing on her face.
Unfortunately, he was given no chance to speak as now it was the turn of the woman who was laying in bed, staring at him with an expression that he could only describe as frustration.
"Davie has never done anything that could break Dani's trust," Camille repeated her earlier statement when she realized that her brother had not yet believed her entirely.
Since he was so suspicious about her male best friend then she would have to be firm while acquitting him of any false allegations that her elder brother seemed to have placed on his reputation.
"He wasn't the one I slept with." She confessed to further strengthen her claims of what had taken place in the past.
The former Camille treated David as a brother and she also loved Dani wholeheartedly.
Therefore, there was no way that she could ever think of doing anything that could cause harm to the loving relationship between her two best friends.
If she did not set things straight with her brother today, then there was no saying how this could come back to bite her in the ass later on.
With this thought in mind, she had not backed down but insisted on setting the record straight and absolving David of his imaginary crimes.
By now, the elder brother's conviction of David being involved in this matter had been shaken after noticing the firm and unwavering tone she had used while defending him.
For this reason, he no longer spoke up but waited to see what else she had to say regarding this incident that had taken place a few months ago.
Noticing that he wasn't objecting to what she had said, Camille sighed before looking right into his eyes.
"Brother, I…" She bit her lip while trying to find the mildest way to explain this incident to her brother.
Since she had gained the memories of the previous owner of this body, she knew exactly how this body had become pregnant.
However, revealing it to this new elder brother made her blush and she also felt embarrassed to disclose such information in his presence.
However, the young man, who was waiting for what his sister would say next, was left stranded for many seconds as he heard nothing coming from her.
He had always lacked patience, so it was obvious that he did not appreciate the situation he found himself in right now.
"Spit it out already!" He snapped when he reached the end of his limited patience.
His frown continued to deepen with each passing second and so did the displeasure concealed within him.
Camille had been trying to gather her courage before she could reveal certain information to him but his annoyed tone made her flinch.
"It was a one-night stand!" She blurted out what was on her mind and grimaced when she realized how unsightly the words that left her mouth were.
Sneaking a peek at him from the corner of her eye, she wished to gauge what her brother's reaction would be.
As expected, his eyes were dangerously narrowed, and his facial expression was darker than it had ever been since she had woken up in this body.
"What did you just say?" He uttered those words slowly, questioning her in a low voice but Camille knew better than to answer him in case she earned his wrath.
Her silence was replied with a sinister chuckle that echoed in the otherwise empty hospital room.
"My baby sister, who hasn't dated all her life, met some unknown man and had a one-night stand with him…" He calmly summarized everything he had heard until now but that scary look in his eyes did not fade in the least bit.
"She also ended up pregnant after spending that night with the stranger." He added, continuing to stare at her, watching and assessing every shift in her expressions.
"Is that what you are trying to say?" He questioned, and this time, there was clear sarcasm dripping from his tone, which she had caught right away.
Just as Camille was about to respond, she halted when she heard another chuckle coming from him, this time a loud, hearty one and for a second, she wondered if her brother's mental state had been deeply shaken due to the revelations he had witnessed this evening.
'Did he lose his mind over this news?' She wondered and bit her lower lip, feeling guilty that she had just met him and was already causing him such distress.
