This is a simple and tranquil little village.
Just at dawn, smoke rose from every household chimney, and if you listened carefully, you could hear the lady of the house calling everyone for breakfast.
Before long, the sounds of children laughing and playing echoed from every alley, either planning to catch ice fish or go ice-skating on the lake.
Then a loud shout from one of the adults, "Be careful."
Walking along, I only encountered a few children.
A moment ago they were laughing and playfully shoving each other, but as soon as they saw Ye Wan and He Sichen, they looked like two uninvited guests, shrinking warily to the wall.
Yet, pairs of clear eyes stared unblinkingly at He Sichen and Ye Wan's faces.
When they reached the end of the village, Ye Wan turned back and saw He Sichen talking to those children.
Not sure what he said, but the children's faces beamed with radiant smiles.
Then, He Sichen took out a handful of candies from his pocket.
