Chapter 24 - Chapter 24

At Alex's home, Daniel looked at his phone grumpily. It has been long since he last held his girl to sleep, not counting the hospital moment since he was sick. He missed her so much, and the mate pull took a toll on him. It was tough for him to control himself yesterday after going to their apartment.

Alex looked at Daniel, and he could guess what was going through his Beta's mind. He was grateful for what Daniel and Amber had done for Malia, but on the other hand, too, it was their duty to protect Luna. Despite not telling them who she was, the two had already read the situation in the room yesterday.

"About Malia, thank you, and help me thank your mate too" He looked at Daniel straight.

"Of course, Alpha Ford, anything for you and the future Luna."

Alex only gave a little smile, to which Daniel shook his head 'the power of a mate' He couldn't wait for the Alpha to get whipped since he always made fun of him about how Amber had him in the palm of his hand.

"Speaking of Malia," Daniel started, making the Alpha raise his head and look at him. "How do you plan on going about it?"

Alex knew exactly where Daniel was coming from; it had been forever since he had a girl in his life. With Malia, however, it felt different; it was strong, and all the tingles excited him. He could confidently conclude that the first girl he had liked might not have been his mate but someone he had an interest in. All the sparks that flew about when he had Malia in his arms were a new feeling, and he loved every bit of it.

"The truth is, it will be hard because Malia is a human" Alex tried to find the right words to answer his Beta.

"You will have to woe her just like the human males do when they are interested in a girl" Daniel, who was social and had cared to learn how the humans ran their lives, tried to chip in a few suggestions to cut the road for his Alpha. "But I think it would be strange if you approached her with flowers claiming to like her after meeting her once. And you remember how she was at the dining? She looked like a timid one."

"And who told you that it was our first meeting?" Alex retorted with a question plus a smirk. Just as he remembered his night with her; he felt all these tingles in his body.

"Enlighten me, please, Mr. Ford," Alex probed.

Alex was gone now; his mind was no longer with Daniel. Instead, it returned to the night when he met her in the bar. He remembered how she had sat humbly in one place like a child who was left behind with candy and told not to leave the place. She sat there and just looked at her friends dancing. She looked so out of place, judging by her behavior. Looking at the way she was constantly wiggling in her seat because of the short dress, he could tell that it was her first time or may not be her kind of environment.

He remembered how those other guys were gawking at her and how it was irritating him. He was so angry that he had growled, but no one heard him aside from Christopher, who was sitting beside him thanks to the loud music.

Looking her way again, he saw her standing, and that is when he went to her. She seemed wasted, but damn, her beauty was blinding. He felt the tingles when he touched her, and his body reacted after so many years of dullness.

"Hey hey hey," Daniel snapped his fingers in front of the Alpha, smiling like a fool and lost in thoughts. "Why are your ears turning red, Alpha? What are you thinking about?"

Alex just stood up from the table with his cup of coffee, took some sips, and headed to the kitchen, where he left the cup. He called Mr. Dawson and asked him to bring his suit jacket. Realizing that the Alpha might leave him behind, Daniel stood up, picked his suit jacked from behind the chair on which he was seated, and headed out after Alex.

"Have a nice day, sir," said Dawson.

"It is going to be a good day, Dawson. Thank you"

On his way to work, Alex received a call from Arnold to report that there was an impromptu meeting at the office with the board. Alex was glad. It seems like there would be some early morning drama at the office. He couldn't wait to dismiss some of the directors and hint at dismissing some board members. He was tired of their lazy asses and greedy eyes that could not see beyond corruption just to get a little change.

Some of them were humans, and they didn't want to do the sweep with many of them; he used the lawyer to teach all the greedy dogs a lesson. Killing so many humans would arouse suspicion in the people and the law, and he didn't want anything to be traced back to him. Indeed, dealing with that greedy jerk of a lawyer was the right thing to do. No one crosses him and hopes to remain unscathed.

"Can you please drive to the Golden Apartments?" Alex asked his driver. It was evident that he was really in a good mood but a dangerously good one. Marcos, his driver wondered why they were heading there.

The driver looked at him through the mirror and shuddered; he had been driving Mr. Ford for as long as he could remember and knew how to read some of his facial expressions. And that face right there was the one that happened when he would happily destroy someone. Whoever was on the receiving end, he didn't know, but he wouldn't exchange places with them in any way. The driver knew how dangerous his Boss was, especially when handling enemies; the ruthlessness he poured into putting them in their place was so high. It always caused chills down his spine.

"If I were you, the road would be my only focus," Alex commented casually, causing Benson to swallow hard in fear.

"Sorry, Sir. We are here," Benson said as he tried to control his eyes from looking at his Boss. He wondered what they were doing at Mr. Daniel's apartment building, but he knew when to keep his mouth shut.

Checking the time on his expensive watch; Alex realized it was already a few minutes to 8:00. So he called Daniel and asked where Amber worked. He got his answer and hung up immediately.

Rechecking the time and told Benson to drive to the Grandier Palate restaurant. He wanted to see his mate, and not even those old men sitting in his boardroom were going to prevent that. The mere thought of seeing her made his mood improve drastically.
