Chapter 10 - THE REVELATION

After the incident, everyone in the two packs transformed back to their original selves. She saw one of the alphas transform to Eric and the other to Greg, and she knew that Greg was an alpha.

Shortly, Brad came and held her arm. "Dad is looking for you, we need to go back now."

"Who are those guys?" Kylie asked.

"Ferzy and his pack, they came for the time elixir which Greg possesses," Brad said.

"Aren't they so troublesome?" Kylie said.

"We need to go now." He took her away.

They arrived their home later that night, and they got into the house talking about what had happened. Eric kept lamenting over Ferzy's Red Mars Pack always disturbing the peace of others. Kylie followed them into the house, and Eric told her to spend the night at their house. Kylie bluntly agreed to do so, which made Brad happy.

When it was time for bed, Eric and Maria gave Kylie and Brad their privacy. Brad quickly reminded her of the collections he had in his room, and she was eager to see them.

They got into his room and saw the place very spacious and full of wallpapers of howling wolves and witch houses. It gave Kylie the chills while she entered, but she was surprised she found it relaxing. Brad being with her gave her a burgeoning feeling of security as well.

She walked in, looking around the room, until she sat on the soft high-rise bed, which was close to a drawer where she saw a watch that looked like the one he gave her.

"You want me to click the button?" Brad reached for the watch.

"No please," she said.

"Come on, you'd love it. Okay forget all those spooky things I said in the collection room, you're going to love what you'd see," he said.

"Even if it wouldn't be spooky, I don't wish to fall asleep yet," she said.

"Very well then. How about seeing my books." He pulled the topmost drawer and she saw a farrago of books with differing titles and covers. He took out one and gave to her. "This is my favorite."

She took it and read out the name. "Halloween in Heaven." She saw people in scary costumes ascending a golden staircase covered in white clouds. "Seems like a good read."

"Oh yes it is," he said and joined her in bed. When she opened the book, he covered the page. That made her look at him and saw the irresistible stare he gave her. A stare of fiery passion. He held her jaw and drew it close to his, but before their lips could touch, she turned away immediately.

"I can't do this," she said.

"Why?" Brad asked.

"I -- I just can't."

"Recall the kiss we had at the collection room. It has been in my mind ever since, and I just want to have that feeling again. Come on." He held her face again, coming closer, but she turned away again.

"Why don't you want this?"

"Cause you're my brother," the words unconsciously left her mouth and she pressed her fingers against her lips, looking at his confused expression.

He withdrew from her. "What did you say?"

"I know how weird it sounds. Same way it sounded when my mother told me," Kylie said.

"I don't believe this." He got up from the bed. "How did your mother come to such conclusion?"

"You recall the moment she saw your father and passed out? He was her lover she lost to a tornado at the Wolvin River," she said.

"You mean my father is her previous lover?" Brad said.

Kylie nodded sadly. "Reason she tried to quell our relationship, that's because we're related. Didn't tell you she once locked me indoors because I was seeing you."

"Oh, my." He joined her in bed. "That must have hurt you."

"She only allowed me to come back to being friends with you after revealing to me that we are related. Now I try to battle intimate feelings about you," Kylie said.

"So what do you think we do about this? We just dissolve the relationship that way?" He said.

"Not really. We could share a brother-to-sister relationship. Have fun, protect each other, and go on adventures together," she said.

"That sounds really nice, but yet I need a lover. Do you think it's wise to let my parents know of this?"

"Not yet please. It could destabilize your family. Your father may become worried he has amnesia, and I don't want your mother having a problem with my mom over your dad."

Brad gasped, not knowing what else to say. "I'm really confused right now. My heart has been inverted, I don't even know what I feel anymore."

"Same as me, ever since my mother told me that, I haven't been myself. I still love you, but I hope nothing pushes us into doing something wrong," she said.

"You know what...come here." He crossed his hand over her shoulder and pulled her close to his chest. "Our relationship might not be intimate, but there's nothing stronger than the love a brother has for his sister. We'd do crazy things together and help protect my dad's pack from antagonists."

"And show me the ways of werewolves," she giggled.

He laughed. "Of course yet. We'd go to Greg's place tomorrow and I introduce you to other teen werewolves. We play and teach you our ways."

"Can't wait for that," she said.

"Of course you wouldn't. And one crazy thing about them is the way they effortlessly enter different regions with their special powers. Greg's family is the most revered in the werewolf world."

She laughed. "Tomorrow it is then."

"So, for now we sleep, and I think it's time to touch this." He reached for the button atop the watch and pressed it.

Kylie watched a holographic projection of a large moon, then bats began flying around.

"It's spookily beautiful," she chuckled.

"Told you you'd love it," he said with a satisfactory smile.
